OHL: Folignos Folly

First line combo of Nick Foligno and Benoit Pouliot has been productive so far this season for the successful Sudbury Wolves (12-8-0-1). However McKeen's correspondent David Burstyn is not sold on Foligno as the winger's work ethic just has not been there. David also provides reports on draft-eligibles Matt Dias, Keaton Turkiewicz, Anton Hedman and Devin DiDiomete.

Gifted forward plays on the Wolves top line but his productivity thus far has been deceiving .. has strong puck skills and some dangle but often makes surprisingly poor decisions .. made errand passes up the middle that were easily intercepted .. selfish habits with the puck; takes too long to make a decision .. skating shows no desperation and lacks top gear; a shadow of a player he was in last year's playoffs .. on a breakaway a defender caught up to him despite Foligno having a full four strides on him, was hauled down for a penalty shot he subsequently missed .. lazy backchecker and not picking up good habits from the similarly laid back Benoit Pouliot .. rarely supports defenders .. father (head coach/GM Mike Foligno) must show some tough love.
Matt Dias (2006) RW, Sudbury
Linemate of Pouliot and Foligno on the top line .. plays the role of a playmaker alongside two capable finishers .. keeps pace effectively and sees the ice very well .. does not shoot a lot and his minimal shot power is partly the reason .. short stride generates good speed, as he stays low to the ice and pushes off well .. plays a solid two-way game, often skating back and sneaking up on a rushing defender to steal the puck from behind .. reacts slowly in clearing the zone and doesn't know what to do with the puck in his own end .. unlikely to generate much interest for this year's draft.
Keaton Turkiewicz (2006), RW, Sudbury
Added much needed weight in the off-season – about 15-17 pounds of muscle .. plays with an edge and is very intense .. absorbs hits well, as he often leaves himself exposed to take them .. light on his skates and moves swiftly on the ice .. always looking to set up the one-timer with his stick raised and ready .. has a good shot and gets his weight really behind it .. fights for position in front of the net to set up in the slot .. works hard and competes for loose pucks .. effective along the corners in his ability to retrieve pucks .. good understanding of positional play, as he is able to identify his man and stay with him .. numbers are not a reflection of the hard work he does on a nightly basis.
Anton Hedman (Bos), RW, Sudbury
Huge winger from Sweden was a second-round-import .. not very steady on his feet .. first step is non-existent, but for a big guy once he gets moving he can get around pretty quickly .. at times it looks like he leans on his stick too much .. understands his role and uses his size to work for him .. willingly parks himself in front of the net and is near-impossible to move .. makes sound and intelligent decisions with the puck .. frame allows him to protect the puck, creating more time and space .. attractive prospect due to size and modest skill set.
Devin DiDiomete (2006), LW, Sudbury
Fierce competitor will not hesitate to drop the gloves .. has posted respectable numbers due to good offensive instincts .. strong defensive understanding; supports his defenseman on the PK and is diligent in his duties .. skating is average but does not hold him back from joining the rush .. decent acceleration and speed coupled with nice vision .. type of prospect teams covet as he does a lot of things right without unnecessary flash .. has a shot at getting drafted due to his toughness and potential to be molded into a reliable role player with time.
