OHL CUP: Waxers Polish off the Competition

Waxers Polish off the Competition (posted 4.21.06)
by David Burstyn
In our final instalment of the OHL Cup we profile the following teams:
The Markham Waxers, London Jr. Knights, Mississauga Ice Dogs, Thunder Bay Kings.
Thunder Bay Kings, HNO, 1-2-0
The Kings are granted an entry every year automatically due to lack of Ontario playing opponents in their region. A talented Thunder Bay team which featured the fourth instalment of the Staal family, fell short against the Toronto Red Wings and the Plymouth Compuware team.
Jared Staal (2009), W, 6'1, 171 OHL Cup 3-1-0-1-4
Tall player who needs to desperately fill out .. anticipates well and he gets to areas of ice where he can be effective .. strong on his skates and boasts a long stride but will need to tweak his skating style, should be able too once his body takes form .. decent offensive abilities but needs to work on several aspects of his overall game.
Outlook: If bloodlines are any indication than Staal should have no problem being successful in the OHL. He will probably get taller and when he puts on the weight he could be a very interesting prospect to a team that is willing to be patient. He looks a little like Jordan in his cool calm approach to the game however the jury is still out as to whether or not he can produce.
McKeen's Rank: 16th Overall
Justin Longley (2008), D, C, 5'10, 161 OHL Cup 3-0-4-4-0
Captain played both defense and up front .. sees the ice well and showed poise with the puck at the line as he QB the PP .. good mobility but average speed .. makes smart plays with the puck as his decision making is good .. more offensive minded as he readily pushes to launce an attack.
Outlook: Longley had a great start to the season and showed the qualities necessary to compete and play in the OHL. However his play levelled off and now it appears he will be a player who has an outside chance of making the OHL but is still on team's radars.
McKeen's Rank: Mid 3rd Round to Early 4th Round
Mitchell Forbes (2008), RW, 5'11, 170 OHL Cup 3-0-1-1-4
Quick hands and quick feet to match .. agile around the goal .. plays the PK as his speed helps him create many odd man rushes the other way .. decision making sometimes is in question as he pushes for offense too much .. shot power is lacking .. needs to slow his play down when entering the offensive zone and realize he has more time than he thinks.
Outlook: An effective role player and adept scorer to his team this season, he will be a late round selection but did impress OHL teams with his solid work ethic.
McKeen's Rank: 8th to 9th Round
Darren Cizmar (2008), LW, 5'11, 165 OHL Cup 3-0-3-3-0
Very shifty and fast .. not overly physical as he does not seek confrontation .. decent shot power and can score many goals from it .. good passing skills and is a capable play maker .. size and strength are glaring weaknesses at this stage.
Outlook: Cizmar still has to work on many areas of his game and it all depends on him as to how determined he is to playing in the OHL.
McKeen's Rank: Mid 7th to Mid 8th Round
Jordan Davis (2008), RW, 5'9, 150 OHL Cup 3-0-0-0-6
Offensive minded player who boasts strong skills as a play maker .. tries to force plays on occasion .. defensively he has not made the adjustments necessary to be an effective two-way player .. great speed and first step quickness.
Outlook: Highly skilled but too one dimensional to step into an OHL program.
McKeen's Rank: Mid 9th to 10th Round
Kale Kerbashian (2008), RW, 5'8, 155 OHL Cup 3-4-1-5-0
A natural goal scorer who is clever with the puck and has tremendous imagination .. soft hands especially in close and around the net .. great acceleration combined with hockey sense make him dangerous every time he touches the puck.
Outlook: Still needs to physically mature but he can dangle and score. He showcases a very attractive skill set as he lead the Kings in scoring in the regular season. Should be very interesting to see how he develops.
McKeen's Rank: Mid 5th Round
Mississauga Ice Dogs, GTHL, 2-1-0
The Ice Dogs needed a win against the Toronto Red Wings to advance to the playoffs in the OHL Cup Showcase but were defeated 4-3, in what was the most entertaining game of the tournament.
Tyler Cuma (2008), D, 6'1, 180 OHL Cup 3-0-2-2-8
A extremely agile and quick player .. solid mobility .. he is able to single handily win a game by himself with his sheer dominance in the offensive zone .. will gamble but his superior offensive talents usually get him out of trouble .. he carries the puck up the ice and is the catalyst for the offense .. gets his shot off in a hurry and is well placed .. is not afraid to get involved and will rough up someone if need be.
Outlook: If Cuma grows a little bit more and adds weight, he will be a dominate OHL player and perhaps beyond. His skill set as a defender is in the upper echelon of kids in his age group and at his position. Expect to see him represent Canada at international events as early as the Under 17 Team.
McKeen's Rank: 8th Overall
Marc Rubino (2008), LW, 5'11, 175 OHL Cup 3-3-0-3-4
Has good speed with quick feet as he flies in the neutral zone .. strong stick handler and puck carrier he can beat most guys one-on-one .. vision is an asset and compliments his overall game .. decent finisher he is able to convert on most of his chances.
Outlook: Should be able to produce and play an effective game at the midget level next season. He should be able to warrant consideration by most clubs come draft day.
McKeen's Rank: Late 5th to Late 6th Round
Matthew Sisca (2008), RW, 5'10, 167 OHL Cup 3-2-3-5-0
Best forward on the team as he has break away speed .. scores goals and sets up plays .. very daring with the puck .. great vision but will need to address defensive awareness .. strength and conditioning is an area of concern.
Outlook: At times it is hard to remember these kids are only 15 and are still far from being physically mature. However the hockey world has no time to wait as others have already reached that level. Sisca is one player who with a little luck and a growth spurt may see his name on the back of an OHL jersey.
McKeen's Rank: 4th Round
Mark McGowan (2008), W, 6'1, 190 OHL Cup 3-1-1-2-2
A tall player who has good hand/eye coordination .. able to park himself in front of the net and tip in shots .. average all around game as nothing in particular prohibits him from being an effective contributor on the ice .. a healthy skater with a long stride.
Outlook: McGowan played on the top two lines and did provide the Ice Dogs with timely goals all season. A role player who compliments his linemates by making safe, smart, sound plays.
McKeen's Rank: 8th to 9th Round
London Jr.Knights, Alliance, 1-2-0
A strong program that is always able to compete in the Alliance. Once again they won the Alliance finals sweeping Brantford. If the Staal family is widely recognized for producing potential quality NHL players than the Hunters have to be the junior equivalent to that as they have yet another son who will see OHL action, Tucker Hunter.
Tucker Hunter (2008), C, W, 6'1, 180 OHL Cup 3-0-0-0-4
Very silky smooth with a great understanding of the game .. strong skater, with a nice stride .. he is big and able to get to the inside .. face off specialist .. plays in all situations .. great anticipation skills and dazzles with play making skills.
Outlook: The rumour is that he will only report and play for London. This would be a shame as most teams will probably balk at drafting him. It is very unlikely that the Knights would burn their 1st round pick on him so expect him to go in the 4th round if that holds true. This would be a complete steal for the Knights if they were able to get him that late.
McKeen's Rank: 28th Overall
Nazem Kadri (2009), C, LW, 6'0, 160 OHL Cup 3-1-1-2-2
Is a strong skating player who is incredibly dynamic .. can score at will and boasts great offensive skills, shot, play making and stick handling are well above his peers .. shifty with quick hands who easily burns defenders one-on-one .. is aggressive as he looks to deliver a body check.
Outlook: Kadri suffered a fractured wrist earlier in the season and his team faltered as a result. He is a sensational player that will take fans out of their seats with his play. While he is still lean he has a good frame to work with and should blossom into a fine OHL player.
McKeen's Rank: 13th Overall
Cody Lindsay (2008), C, LW, 5'10, 180 OHL Cup 3-1-0-1-2
A clever player who has great feet and is always involved in the action .. strong play in all areas of the ice .. willingly puts himself in positions where he knows he will get punished to score goals .. has a good shot .. decent skater but seems to have only one level of quickness.
Outlook: Lindsay impressed most hockey people this season. While he may be generously listed at 5'10, that could be the only thing holding him back. It is not inconceivable to see him in the OHL next season as he is a border line top two round pick and with a good training camp he could stick all year for the team that drafts him.
McKeen's Rank: Early 3rd Round
Jordan O'Neill (2008), D, 6'2, 180 OHL Cup 3-0-0-0-12
Really flies into the offensive zone as his jersey is constantly waving behind him .. quick first step which propels him into the attack .. carries the puck well and sees the ice by making good first passes out of the zone .. great shot from the point .. solid mobility and movement .. defensively he is ok .. at times takes poor penalties if players get around him and beat him to the outside .. big frame who has considerable strength.
Outlook: While he had an up and down season and a mediocre OHL Cup, teams still see him as a solid player who could service and compliment their organization for five years if they draft him.
McKeen's Rank: 24th Overall
Travis Gibbons (2008), D, 5'11, 175 OHL Cup 3-0-0-0-4
A strong crease clearer who is committed to coming back and taking care of the defensive side of the game .. excellent skater as his fast feet and reverse movement is superb .. shows decent offensive touch to compliment all around mature game.
Outlook: Gibbons will play in the OHL but maybe not as early as next season. He is considered a legitimate prospect that teams will try to grab early once all the upper echelon defenseman in this draft have been chosen.
McKeen's Rank: Early to Mid 3rd Round
Shawn Furlong (2008), RW, 5'10, 178 OHL Cup 3-0-2-2-2
A good two way player who will do the little things that contribute to team success .. makes teammates looks good as he does the majority of the dirty work , works the corners and goes hard to the net .. limited offensive skills .. good hockey sense and team guy.
Outlook: Furlong has an outside chance of playing in the OHL in the next two seasons as he possesses hockey smarts that are unrivalled by any of his teammates and most players at his age level. He is an effective role player who can be slotted in almost any situation so he would provide his organization with versatility.
McKeen's Rank: Mid 4th Round
Markham Waxers, ODMA, 5-0-0
The top ranked team coming into the tournament they did not disappoint as they captured their first ever OHL Cup. The Waxers incredible season was a direct result of hard work and commitment to detail. Having the best forward and defenseman in the province certainly did not hurt either.
Dylan O'Neil (2009), RW, 5'9, 190 OHL Cup 5-1-3-4-2
Solid skater with exceptionally 1st step quickness .. comes back and plays all 200 feet of the ice .. offensively he can finish and set up plays .. more of a play maker but has a good shot .. feisty and plays intense when games get more physical, can adapt to any game situation .. he does have a tendency to play the perimeter however as he does not willingly go to the net but finds himself there on occasion.
Outlook: A good second line scoring threat. He is a smaller player but has quickness that most teams covet and look for in prospects. A work in progress as he still has a little bit of maturing to do to get to the next level but is not far off.
McKeen's Rank: 3rd Round
Matthew Tipoff (2009), W, 6'0, 175 OHL Cup 5-1-5-6-0
A chippy, energy, in-your-face type of player .. works the corners well and is able to make centring feeds to open teammates in the slot .. shows grit and determination coupled with hands that can score, he played on the top line as a result .. good quick skater with short strides .. hits with authority .. charges the net and bangs away loose pucks in the crease willingly taking abuse to score a goal.
Outlook: Tipoff exhibited great execution as he was able to play and produce with one of the best players outside junior hockey, Steven Stamkos. They had wonderful chemistry on the ice and it showed on the score sheet. Tipoff was a regular set-up man for Stamkos goals. He will play in the OHL it is just a matter of time.
McKeen's Rank: Mid 3rd Round
Cameron Gaunce (2008), D, 6'1, 195 OHL Cup 5-1-2-3-4
A reliable 2nd defender who plays a positional game .. shows good offensive skills but are not high end, can make a good 1st pass but his vision is not spectacular .. slow feet who needs a few strides to get going but has decent mobility .. does not play over his limits but gets a little deflated when play does not develop to his likings .. guilty of standing still in defensive situations and not moving his feet enough.
Outlook: A sturdy defender who shows good promise at the OHL level. He was over shadowed at times by Del Zotto but he is capable of playing in the OHL in the next two seasons.
McKeen's Rank: Late 3rd to Early 4th Round
Kelly Geoffrey (2008), W, 5'9, 145 OHL Cup 5-2-5-7-2
A skilled, fast and highly offensive player who is very crafty with the puck .. great acceleration and is able to shift one way while going the other confusing defenseman and opening up scoring lanes in the process .. nice hands, is equally adept at scoring or setting up making him lethal in close and with the puck .. defensively he struggles as he neglects to come back .. is afraid of physical confrontation and avoids it regularly.
Outlook: Size and lack of physical play will certainly hurt his draft status. There is no denying his offensive prowess as he did manage to score 111 points during the season. However plenty of offensive minded players did not play at a higher level because they did not fully understand the nuances of the game at a higher level.
McKeen's Rank: 5th Round
Michael DelZotto (2008), D, 6'0, 195 OHL Cup 5-4-3-7-6
Combines great skill and toughness at the defensive position .. has a mean streak, hits to hurt and pummels opponents into the ice .. captain makes plays others are not capable of doing at this level as he is so offensively gifted and defensively smart .. a rocket of a shot that gets through always .. is accurate to a degree but he would benefit to take a little of it .. great mobility and solid change of direction .. can stop and go to blow by forwards .. can stick handle through traffic and does not panic when he is surrounded by two forwards rushing him, rather he calmly finds a quick outlet and refuses to be beaten.
Outlook: Del Zotto's game is so complete the only thing that it is missing is better competition for him to improve and learn from. He led the OHL Showcase in defenseman scoring and was a factor in every game. He will be inserted immediately into a line up of an OHL team and will be expected to be a big part of that organizations future. Del Zotto is a winner and any team using him as the corner stone of a rebuilding defense corps is in good standing.
McKeen's Rank: 2nd Overall
Steven Stamkos (2008), C, 6'0, 170 OHL Cup 5-4-7-11-4
A super quick, shifty, highly skilled forward .. can single handily take over a game and dominate an area of the ice .. his speed drives defenders to the outside and he usually beats them and has enough room to cut to the net and slide the puck past the goalie .. is not against sticking a player who tries to irritate him and get him off his game .. great transition from offense to defense as his speed catches many defenders off guard and forces them to reconsider their options .. unbelievable imagination with the puck as he makes passes that seem impossible, at times with one hand on his stick .. does not shy away from any area of the ice, readily works the corners to get loose pucks .. players bounce off him when they try to hit him .. keen anticipation skills, actively uses his stick to intercepts passes.
Outlook: Stamkos is a franchise player! His season totals of 168 points on the strength of 94 goals were remarkable. He literally won games by himself this season and excelled in tournament play against the best competition as he led the Marlie and OHL Cup tournaments in scoring. If Sarnia selects him as it is rumoured to believe, he will be given substantial minutes, see ample PP time and be given every opportunity to develop into a star player in the league under the guidance of Shawn Camp, a coach directly involved with Hockey Canada's Program of Excellence.
McKeen's Rank: 1st Overall
Toronto Gets Wings Clipped (posted 4.20.06)
by David Burstyn
In our third instalment of our continued coverage of the 2006 OHL Cup we profile:
The Toronto Red Wings, Ottawa Valley Titans, Brantford 99'ers, Toronto Marlboros.
Ottawa Valley Titans, ODMHA, 1-2-0
After finishing first in the ODMHA, the Titans struggled early in the tournament and never found their stride. Backed by a very gifted back end and a formidable forward unit the Titans should have plenty of alumni from this team represented in the OHL next season.
Matt MacDougall (2008), D, 6'3, 185 OHL Cup 3-1-1-2-2
Good overall skill set as he is a very complete player .. defensively he is able to contain forwards and pin them along the glass .. takes a hit to advance the puck .. solid mobility with good footwork and above average speed .. offensively he is able to see the ice well and QB the PP .. shows good patience with the puck and distributes the puck effectively.
Outlook: A sturdy build defender with a good head on his shoulders is always in demand. He may not be first round material but there is no doubt that he can play. He should be able to thrive in most systems as he is very versatile.
McKeen's Rank: 21st Overall
Brett Sullivan (2008), D, 6'1, 180 OHL Cup 3-0-1-1-2
Shows a competitive desire to win .. big defender with mean streak .. is a solid defensive defenseman .. protects his goal and clears his crease .. average speed but maintains solid defensive positioning and does not get caught chasing a puck carrier .. needs a little work on 2-1 plays .. offensively he has very little jam however that is not his game.
Outlook: Teams looking to add a quality stay-at-home defender should look no further than Sullivan. He scores very high marks in all aspects on defensive play and with a little additional coaching he could be a very effective player to rely upon to throw into late game situations to protect leads.
McKeen's Rank: 33rd Overall
Thomas Nesbitt (2008), 5'11, 175 OHL Cup 3-2-1-3-2
Outstanding stick handler as he can make anyone look foolish with his wide array of moves .. solid build with excellent balance and tremendous speed .. very intense player as he will readily muck it up in all the danger areas of the ice .. good shot especially his wrister .. is very cool and confident with the puck displays a natural goal scorer's ability but will need to work on his finish .. at times showed a tad bit of selfishness with the puck.
Outlook: The assistant captain was a one man show at the OHL Cup. He made many sensational moves including one where he danced around both Pietrangelo and D'Orazio , two of the better defenseman eligible for the OHL draft, but was unable to finish. He is a strong player who has a healthy career in the OHL.
McKeen's Rank: 17th Overall
Zachary Hervato (2008), C, 5'8, 150 OHL Cup 3-0-0-0-4
A small but very creative and talented player .. does not let his size prohibit him from playing feisty as he is not afraid to battle for the puck .. very strong considering his size as he maintained his balance and was rarely knocked off the puck .. smart player who is aware of where to be in all three zones .. adept stick handler in traffic and displays good enough vision to help create goals.
Outlook: A victim of the numbers game, Hervato will have to be extra dynamic to play in this league or find his growth spurt. He has a solid well rounded game and should be able to perhaps play Tier II or Jr. B in the Ottawa area as he continues to mature.
McKeen's Rank: Late 6th to Early 7th Round
Andrew Cloutier (2008), C, 6'2, 180 OHL Cup 3-0-0-0-0
A big towering player who oozes potential .. good up and down skater but does not possess the best turning radius and his balance needs work .. good hands in traffic .. attacks the net but is not physical whatsoever .. defensively he still is raw as he misses a few assignments.
Outlook: Raw, is the best way to describe him. He has a solid foundation of skills and tools and if he filled out and added some much needed weight he could be an impact player that would step in to play in two years and be successful. He is a project and a team with a healthy program and rich in forwards may take a chance on him.
McKeen's Rank: Late 3rd to Early 4th Round
Brantford 99'ers, Alliance, 1-2-0
After tasting success, as they always do in the regular season finishing first, they lost in the Alliance finals to the London Jr.Knights. The 99'ers may have been without proper tutelage as their coach was dismissed prior to the Showcase which may have been a direct result to their poor showing.
Adam Henrique (2008), C, 5'11, 168 OHL Cup 3-5-2-7-4
A natural goal scorer with a lethal accurate shot .. very quick as he generates great speed with his first step and has a top 2nd gear acceleration .. speed helps to get many of his goals, able to jump into the rush and handles the puck at top speed .. he also uses his speed to intimidate and he breaks down defenseman and pushes them far back .. shows good concentration in traffic and will go to the net on occasion however he likes to play the perimeter and shoot whenever he can.
Outlook: A bit on the small side however Henrique does have great skating skills which should see him land in the OHL. He had a great OHL Cup as he was second in scoring while only playing three games. Henrique needs to realize exactly how good he is and should not be comfortable playing to the pace of the game rather try to be the game breaker that he is capable of and taking games into his own hands.
McKeen's Rank: 23rd Overall
Chad Sumison (2008), LW, 5'11, 175 OHL Cup 3-2-3-5-0
Captain who always was working hard .. decent speed needs work on balance .. anticipates well and he is a smart player who intercepts passes .. good puck handler .. got better of surveying his options and minimizing high risk plays in favour of smarter ones.
Outlook: Sumison is not quite ready for the OHL however he may have a card waiting for him with the Jr.B team and should continue to develop while still playing at home.
McKeen's Rank: 7th Round
Paul Bezzo (2008), D, 6'1, 165 OHL Cup 3-0-0-0-6
A big defender who is physically strong .. good skater with quick feet .. decision making at times a tad suspect .. decent shot and readily jumps into the play.
Outlook: It may take a few years but he could develop into a 5th or 6th defenseman in the OHL.
McKeen's Rank: 10th Round
Dustin Faith (2008), D, 6'3, 175 OHL Cup 3-0-0-0-4
Bigger defender who should fill out nicely .. shows some offensive creativity, capable of making a good first pass.. decent mobility and speed help him defend .. keeps his game simple and does not play outside his limits .. needs to play with more discipline.
Outlook: Much like his team mate Bezzo, Faith is many years removed form playing at the OHL level. Increased strength and conditioning in the off-season will further his chances.
McKeen's Rank: 8th Round
Brock Smith (2008), LW, 5'11, 175 OHL Cup 3-0-2-2-0
A thick player who appears much bigger than his stats suggest .. skates in a hunched over motion and will need to add much needed speed .. not much offensive jam but attacks the net and is hard to remove in the slot .. a tough competitor he will drop the gloves and does know how to throw them.
Outlook: Smith played on the top line this season and did not look completely out of place. He will bang and crash and is a good team guy. The only question mark is his offensive game he needs to raise it to another level to add another dimension to his game.
McKeen's Rank: 8th Round
Toronto Marlboros, GTHL, 1-1-1
Not quite the dominating team they were last year however one has to imagine of much better this team could have been with John Tavares. In either case they lost in the opening round of the GTHL playoffs but due to their regular season record were granted a spot in the OHL Showcase as a wild card.
Robyn Sertic (2008), D, 5'11, 160 3-0-1-1-0
Captain of the Marlboro team is a smart player who reads and anticipates very well .. offensively he needs to make his passes crisper and distribute the puck faster .. quick feet is able to recover if he loses a step .. not physical due to his lack of weight but he is an effective stick checker and angles off forwards.
Outlook: All the skills are there, now it is just a matter of putting on the weight and developing a mean streak. He should be able to develop nicely in the Greater Toronto area as he will have plenty of teams looking for his services before he joins the OHL.
Mckeen's Rank: Late 5th to Mid 6th Round
Jarred Seymour (2008), D, 6'4, 175, OHL Cup 3-0-0-0-2
A tall rangy defender who shows considerable promise in all areas of his game .. shows some confidence with the puck but still lacks the take charge attitude with it .. blocks shots and passing lanes as he is near impossible to beat with his long reach .. wide stride and decent speed but is able to make up ground in one to two strides if he is beaten.
Outlook: Seymour has only been playing hockey since the beginning of this year and is already playing at a Triple A level which is an accomplishment to its self. He should play in the OHL but will need another year of development probably at the Tier II level.
McKeen's Rank: Late 3rd to Mid 4th Round
Corey Trivino (2008), C, 6'1, 155 OHL Cup 2-2-3-5-12
A dynamic player who has blazing speed and soft hands .. great shot in the slot and gets it off so fast .. speed to the outside creates many of his opportunities as he drives defenseman wide and looks to bury goals .. needs to have the puck to be effective so has to be partnered off with a good playmaker .. defensively his play away from the puck is an area of concern .. needs to be more disciplined.
Outlook: Despite the fact that he left the team earlier in the year due to captaincy issues, it has not hurt his draft stock. Everything seems to be behind him and he is focussed on playing at the OHL level next season. He is a temper mental player who will need to keep his emotions in check as many players will test his mental make up next season.
McKeen's Rank: 10th Overall
Tyler Allen (2008), LW, 6'1, 176 OHL Cup 3-2-3-5-4
Good offensive skill set .. competes and works hard in all three zones .. still needs work on leg strength however he is strong on his skates .. but he has a long fluid stride which helps him get around the ice easily .. finds room in the slot as he battles for his spots .. creates his own opportunities.
Outlook: Allen got better and better as the season went on. He still has areas in which he can improve on but those will come in time. His overall game should be able to compliment a team next year in the OHL but many a nights will be spent on the bench learning through osmosis.
McKeen's Rank: 37th Overall
Kelly Jackson (2008), RW, 5'9, 165 OHL Cup 3-0-1-1-2
A solid skater who has a tight turning radius and quick bursts of speed to the outside .. understands his defensive role .. displays patience and is creative with the puck .. committed work ethic.
Outlook: Jackson is a decent player who still needs to make many adjustments to his game. A few years playing midget may make him more OHL ready.
McKeen's Rank: Late 6th to Early 7th Round
Matt Hoyle (2008), G, 6'2, 185 OHL Cup 0-1-1
A big goalie that plays the butterfly .. at times he goes down to early but his big shoulders most of the time will stop high shots .. has an active stick and looks to play the puck whenever he can .. quick glove hand .. uses all parts of his body to make saves.
Outlook: Hoyle had poor stretches during the regular season but managed to rebound with a strong OHL Cup. Hoyle may play in the OHL but considering you can only wildcard three players you draft goalies generally do not play in their rookie season unless they are top two pick which Hoyle will not be.
McKeen's Rank: Late 4th to Early 5th Round – 7th on Mckeen's Top #10 Goalie List
Toronto Red Wings, GTHL, 4-1-0
The Red Wings failed to win the OHL Cup Showcase losing in a hard fought 3-2 loss to the Waxers. Well coached and highly skilled this Red Wing team will have considerable representation in the OHL for years to come.
Josh Dadic (2008), C, 6'3, 210 OHL Cup 5-4-2-6-0
Bow legged skater however generates good speed due to long graceful stride .. very agile considering his size .. powers through players as he is physically imposing .. is a trigger man as he is left uncontested in the slot .. showcases good defensive understanding and overall game.
Outlook: Not many players were as big as Dadic this season. He has all the tools to be a successful OHL player and should realize his goals next season and start to see his name on the score sheet more often in his draft year.
McKeen's Rank: 25th Overall
Chris Dunham (2008), RW, 5'10, 195 OHL Cup 5-5-2-7-0
A stocky little player who has good balance .. very unique skating style who has good acceleration but will need to work on second gear separation .. amazing wrist shot and can really score goals going top corner .. an equally talented play maker as he sees the ice well and can set up plays.
Outlook: Dunham is a highly skilled player. His decision to join the Toronto Red Wings at the beginning of the season paid off as he enjoyed a very successful campaign and was surrounded by players who made him better in the process. He has an outside chance of playing in the OHL if he has a strong training camp.
McKeen's Rank: Early 3rd Round
David Mathers (2009), LW, 6'1, 195 OHL Cup 5-1-1-2-8
A physical player who loves to throw his weight around .. charges the net and is reckless in his approach .. up right skater who is not overly fast but has good acceleration .. lacks offensive polish but will pay the price to score goals.
Outlook: Will most likely play Midget next season with an outside chance of playing for a Tier II team. He is a solid player who will be able to elevate his game next season to the competition level. The OHL is still a distance away.
McKeen's Rank: Mid 5th to Mid 6th Round
Mitch Gaulton (2008), D, 6'1, 190 OHL Cup 5-1-3-4-2
A strong skating defender with excellent feet and outstanding mobility .. rocket of a shot .. very comfortable with the puck but at times tends to be too cocky with the puck as well as he tries to force plays that are not possible .. sees the ice very well .. defensively he needs to stay in front of his man as not to get beat .. a player with unlimited potential.
Outlook: Gaulton has all the skills to be a number one defender .. he can control a game and set up plays with ease from the back end with timely first passes out of the zone. He had another strong tournament as he seems to elevate his play against tougher competition.
McKeen's Rank: 7th Overall
Guy Carteciano (2008), C, 5'10, 190 OHL Cup 5-0-4-4-0
A speedy player who causes many turn overs with his aggressive style of play .. always buzzing around .. quick feet and great acceleration allow him to be in good position to score or play effective defence .. a constant threat of the PK to score .. has good hands and he can capitalize on the majority of his chances.
Outlook: Carteciano did everything a coach could ask for as a captain. He led by example and never gave up on a play all season. He should be able to sign on with a Tier II team as he has all the skills to be competitive at the next level.
McKeen's Rank: Early 3rd Round
Michael Colavecchia (2008), W, 5'9, 170 OHL Cup 5-0-6-6-2
A speedy player who has a remarkable ability to always go into the corners and retrieve the puck .. great passer as he can thread the needle on most passes especially through traffic .. quick feet and great acceleration .. anticipates very well as he positions himself effectively .. smart player who refuses to be intimidated by bigger players despite his lack of size.
Outlook: Colavecchia is a player that could really develop in a few short seasons. He makes plays and is very smart. A year playing with older competition should really test his overall game and how he is able to battle through checks to find ways to score.
McKeen's Rank: Late 5th to Mid 6th Round
Jr. Canadiens fall short (posted 4.19.06)
by David Burstyn
In our second instalment of the 2006 OHL Cup we profile: The Toronto Jr.Candiens, Vaughn Kings, Quinte Red Devils and Plymouth Compuware.
Quinte Red Devils, ODMA, 0-3-0
After finishing third in the ODMA play downs the Red Devils earned a spot in the OHL Cup as a wild card. They had a poor showing at the OHL Cup as they were outscored by a 3-1 margin and failed to register a win.
Nathan Moon (2008), C, 6'0, 170 OHL Cup 3-1-0-1-4
Has an innate ability to separate himself from the opposition .. great speed and second gear acceleration .. is an offensive minded player who plays in all situations .. great release point and can shoot off either foot .. solid shot with some strength behind it .. defensively he cheats as he is always pushing for offense.
Outlook: Moon at times only showed us half of what he could do and sports writers should have a field day with all the Pun's they can create with his last name. One can not deny his natural raw skill as he did play a year up in Provincial Jr. A last season and experienced a fair bit of success. An argument may be made that Moon was bored playing at this level and did not compete as hard as he knew he should, if that holds true than he should have plenty of players pushing him next season as he hones his skills in the OHL.
McKeen's Rank: 15th Overall
Luke Haegele (2008), RW, 6'2, 160 OHL Cup 3-0-1-2
A confident winger who makes plays with the puck .. small frame that needs to fill out .. smart player who uses his speed to his advantage .. he sees the ice well as he has good offensive instincts.
Outlook: Haegle got better as the season wore on and made tremendous strides from the beginning of the year. Such improvement moved him higher on team's draft list. With a little bit of filling out, Haegle could turn into a decent prospect. He has a good set of tools to draw from however right now he is far too skinny to take the abuse and rigours of the OHL.
McKeen's Rank: 6th Round
Vaughn Kings, GTHL, 3-1-2-0
The Vaughn Kings were a well coached team that relied on consistent efforts from all their lines to contribute to team success The Vaughn Kings were one of the only teams in Ontario to beat the Markham Waxers not once but twice. Unfortunately they came up short against the Waxers in the first game and had no chance of advancing as a result, in what many believed to be the hardest bracket in the tournament.
Steven Zoffranieri (2008), G, 5'9, 185 OHL Cup 1-0-0
Not flashy but makes timely saves .. decent agility .. shows good mental make up and is very calm in the net .. very quick reflexes .. bigger goalie does not show shooters much net.
Outlook: A decent goalie who may be added later in the draft as he is skilled at stopping the puck. One area of concern could be his weight and his ability to keep it off.
McKeen's Rank: Late 8th to Early 9th Round – 10th on McKeen's Top #10 Goalie List
Mark Cundari (2008), D, 5'10, 185 OHL Cup 3-0-4-4-16
A fluid skating defenseman who is not afraid to take offensive chances .. physically he is tough and does not back down from confrontation .. displays a decent shot from the point .. slick skating enables him to move past players and into offensive zone where his crisp passing skills help him orchestrate many goals.
Outlook: Cundari had very good stretches during the season and was their top blue liner at certain times in the season. He is a durable defender who should see a lengthy career in the OHL preferably to a team looking to add depth at the defence position.
McKeen's Rank: 35th Overall
Brandon Burlon (2008), D, 6'0, 180 OHL Cup 3-3-0-3-6
Is a physically strong player who can contain his man .. he shows a lot of confidence in his puck handling abilities as it was not uncommon for him to dance into the offensive zone and set up shop and quickly recover if he got caught .. smart safe decisions with the puck in offensive situations .. great skater with wide range of motion who could still use a little work on his foot speed.
Outlook: Shows tremendous promise and while he may not be the biggest defender in terms of height he compensates that deficiency with sound positional skills and brute force. Burlon worked hard and impressed many with his play this season and should be worthy of a high pick come the OHL draft.
McKeen's Rank: 14th Overall
Michael McInerney (2008), D, 6'0, 210 OHL Cup 3-0-2-2-4
Decent offensive game .. needs to release the puck faster on the point .. decision making is average as he is not overly adept with the puck .. slow feet and limited range of motion .. needs to be more diligent in tying his man in front of the net.
Outlook: Despite some apparent weaknesses, McInerney still has some upside. He should continue to make strides to be a potential OHL player and seems destined to have a good start with a midget team next season.
McKeen's Rank: 6th to Early 7th Round
Phil Varone (2009), LW, 5'10, 165 OHL Cup 3-3-2-5-0
A skilled player who has an uncanny knack for being elusive and getting behind defenders to bury goals .. good release on a strong shot .. displays keen offensive anticipation skills .. small but is not against throwing a hit to charge up team mates .. good short bursts of speed.
Outlook: Varone scored many times this season and that hard fact can not be ignored. With the game leaning in a direction towards smaller highly skilled players he may have an outside chance of playing in the OHL however for the time being he is on the bubble looking in.
McKeen's Rank: Late 5th to Early 6th Round
Plymouth Compuware, MEHL, 3-2-1-0
They were the only American team represented at the OHL Cup Showcase. They competed hard and managed to win two games through sheer determination and a never say die attitude.
Nick Wawrzyniak (2008), D, 6'1, 215 OHL Cup 3-0-0-0-6
Steady force on the blue line as his size eliminates many players from the play .. aggressive in front of the net .. is still raw in his defensive zone coverage but does not play outside his limits .. good speed for his size with great reverse movement.. offensively he still has yet to reach his potential but he does try to make things happen.
Outlook: Was named the player of the game against Thunder Bay as he was all over the ice. He is still a work in progress and will take a few years to develop.
McKeen's Rank: 8th Round
Joe Underwood (2008), D, 6'2, 180 OHL Cup 3-1-1-2-4
Great size coupled with great skating skills .. long fluid stride but would benefit from shortening stride for better change of direction .. finishes checks and is aggressive in his puck pursuit, a hard worker .. takes abuse to make plays .. can QB a PP and boasts a decent shot from the point .. not much offensive skill as he tends to slow down with the puck on his stick and looks uneasy carrying the puck at times.
Outlook: Underwood's size make him ideal to play in the OHL. He showed good leadership abilities and led by example all season long. He should be able to see OHL action in a few short seasons as his work ethic and overall skill set make him a candidate for a fourth defenseman role.
McKeen's Rank: Mid 3rd to Early 4th Round
Toronto Jr. Canadiens, GTHL, 4-1-0
They were the cream of the crop in the GTHL for the better part of the season as they lost only five games all year and went undefeated in their first 23 games till suffering their first loss. They lost in the finals of the GTHL Championship. They had a string of bad luck as they endured many injuries to key guys down the stretch and just before the playoffs.
Alex Pietrangelo (2008), D, 6'3, 190 OHL Cup 4-1-4-5-2
A sensational skater who is so fluid and quick, able to skate freely and uncontested on the ice .. great first pass and offensive skill set .. blistering shot with a lightning release .. defensively he is not physical but smart with his positioning on the ice .. stick handles through traffic and is effortless in his ability to cut to the net .. very well developed physically as he only needs to add weight.
Outlook: The future is so bright for Pietrangelo you have to wear shades. He has Pro written all over him as he has such incredible skill and finish. He was used in both penalty shots awarded to the Jr.Canadiens in the OHL Cup and was successful on his first attempt. He struggled a bit in the semis against Markham but his skill set is so complete that any thing less than a top three pick is out of the question. He is future captain material in the OHL and a player that an organization can build around.
McKeen's Rank: 3rd Overall
Michael D'Orazio (2008), D, 6'0, 191 OHL Cup 4-1-0-1-0
A fast skater with good feet and solid mobility .. aggressive and hits to hurt .. will clear the net and intimidate players with his mean streak .. makes a good first pass out of the zone .. great shot from the point .. positionally smart who is always cognoscente of where he is in relation to the play.
Outlook: There is no question that D'Arozio will play in the OHL next season. He is so good that a team may deviate from their team needs to solidify their back end with a player of his calibre should he be available. He brings many intangibles with him and it is very hard to ignore what he will bring to the organization that drafts him.
McKeen's Rank: 12th Overall
Josh Brittian (2008), LW, 6'3, 202 OHL Cup 4-0-0-0-0
A big player who will need to add strength to support his big frame .. showcases good speed and acceleration but needs to address his stride.. good offensive skill set .. works to get to the net and unleash his shot which has a fair bit of accuracy .. physical but not overly aggressive.
Outlook: Brittian broke his leg and missed the majority of the playoffs. He came back and responded fairly well. He is fairly raw however teams and scouts as a whole see him as a can't miss prospect as his size and skill should be able to translate well at the OHL level.
McKeen's Rank: 26th Overall
Stefan DellaRovere (2008), LW 5'11, 190 OHL Cup 4-1-2-3-6
Tireless worker who never stops competing .. decent skater with good acceleration, is always moving .. solid work ethic as the captain leads by example .. willingly joins the rush as he is always looking to help his team on the score sheet .. will assert himself in traffic and does not shy away from any areas on the ice.
Outlook: Captain of a solid team that had many quality players capable of filling that role. He is a complete work horse and scouts fell in love with his positive attitude. His strong play away from the puck should make his transition to Junior that much easier. He should be able to play next year in the OHL, as he is a role player who can and will do what is asked of him for team success.
McKeen's Rank: 32nd Overall
Chris Desousa (2009), LW, 5'9, 180 OHL Cup 4-1-2-3-0
Strong on his skates as his lower centre of gravity makes it near impossible to knock him off the puck .. shifty as he has quick hands and is able to make many moves as a result .. stays low to the ice and displays good speed especially while handling the puck .. needs to work on shot accuracy but positions himself to take advantage of it .. shows good work along the boards.
Outlook: Has a firm understanding of the game and decent skill set to match. He could be best utilized in a third line checking role as he can defend against talented players and is capable of putting a few into the net as well. He should be able to compliment an organization for many years.
McKeen's Rank: 40th Overall
Erik Axell (2008), RW, 6'2, 188 OHL Cup 4-1-0-1-0
A big tall player who works extremely well in traffic .. will park his frame in front of the net to score on rebounds and take abuse in the crease .. protects the puck very well as he often comes from behind the goal to drive to the net leaning on guys in the slot in the process .. average offensive skill set .. good skater but not much quickness.
Outlook: A year in midget will probably improve his overall game. It is undecided whether or not he could step up his game to Tier II play as he still has much more developing to do.
McKeen's Rank: 4th to 5th Round
No Shining Stars At OHL Cup (posted 4.18.06)
by David Burstyn
In our four part series of the OHL Cup we profile four teams:
Great North All Stars, Cumberland Barons, Don Mills Flyers and the Richmond Hill Stars. Team Stats Wins, Losses and Ties, OHL Cup Player Stats: Games, Goals, Assists, Points and PIM
Richmond Hill Stars, OMHA, 0-3-0
Not a particularly good tournament for the Stars who just two seasons ago where the silver medal winners at the OHL Cup. They finished in second place in their division and had a good playoff run before they were stopped by the powerful Markham Waxers in the finals of the ODMA.
Jason Wilson (2008), LW, 6'2, 185, OHL Cup Stats 3-0-0-0-12
Captain is more of a finisher than a play maker .. strong and thick who excels along the boards .. decision making needs some improvement .. defensive work also needs some attention and additional coaching .. decent skater who appears sluggish as his body has not quite fully developed but does exhibit good acceleration once he gets his massive frame moving.
Outlook: Most power forwards especially at this level have scouts drooling into the type of player they may turn out to be and Wilson is no exception. He has unlimited potential and a good skill set to draw from. With the right coach and environment he could really excel at the OHL level. His play early in the season had him slotted in the first round however with a poor second half and an atrocious OHL Cup his stock dropped considerably.
McKeen's Rank: 35th Overall
Ben Alavie (2008), D, 5'11, 176, OHL Cup Stats 3-0-0-0-2
A slick skating defenseman who can QB a PP .. showed good poise and generally made good decisions with the puck .. needs to make a better 1st pass .. quick feet and fluid stride and mobility allow him to move freely around the ice .. showed a tendency to cough up the puck when pressured along the boards.
Outlook: Alavie had a good season and what really stood out was his footwork. He lacks the physical strength to compete at the OHL level however a mid round pick is not out of the question.
McKeen's Rank: 6th round
Robert Mignardi (2008), C, 5'11, 157, OHL Cup 3-1-0-1-2
A highly skilled offensive player who thrives in PP situations .. good speed generated by quick feet however he needs to move his feet more in the neutral zone when the puck is not on his stick .. wants to score and shows a competitive desire around the net as he fearlessly attacks the net following up on rebounds .. offensively he knows where to be as he constantly works into a position to unload his shot.
Outlook: Mignardi in most games was Richmond Hill's most lethal offensive weapon which made it easy for the opposition to key on him. He did his best to battle through checks however one has to wonder if his lack of size would be an issue at the next level, the OHL. He most likely will be drafted and play midget next season as he looks to develop his skills and physically mature.
McKeen's Rank: Late 5th or Early 6th Round
Cumberland Barons, ODMHA, 0-2-1
The Barons remained competitive for the most part of the season. They finished third in the regular season and had a strong playoff push to garner a spot in the OHL Cup. They lost to the eventual ODMHA champs the Ottawa Valley Titans. The Barons had an emotional season as one of their players Zachary Laroche required brain surgery. The players rallied behind him by placing his jersey on the bench till he returned.
Shawn Lalonde (2008), D, 6'1, 165, OHL Cup 3-0-2-2-16
A strong offensive minded defenseman .. takes many chances to create offence but his solid skating skills allow him to recover .. great poise with the puck, solid offensive skills as his vision and first pass are top notch .. his mobility is outstanding as he is able to play effective defence as a result of it .. has a mean streak in him and is not against throwing down the gloves, however he must learn to be a bit more disciplined.
Outlook: The future is very bright for Lalonde who will be skating in the OHL next season. He is a pure offensive defenseman whose offensive skill set is among the best at his position. He will need to modify his game a bit at the OHL level but will no doubt make an immediate contribution to the team that drafts him.
McKeen's Rank: 11th Overall
Tim Billingsley (2008), D, 6'1, 170, OHL Cup 3-2-0-2-0
Is a strong defender who has a solid all-around game .. he is a great skater who has good outside speed and will challenge players to haul him down as he drives to the net .. does not find himself out of position in all three zones .. good passes out of the zone coupled with a good shot from the point .. strong on his skates and is able to out-muscle many rushing forwards in defensive situations, does not get beaten in one-on-one situations.
Outlook: Billingsley keeps his game simple. His firm understanding of the game and his generous skill set allows him to make hard plays look easy. A smart player, Billinglsey should be able to find himself on the roster of an OHL team as early as next season.
McKeen's Rank: 31st Overall
Don Mills Flyers, GTHL, 3-1-0
The Flyers who finished 6th in regular season play, peeked and elevated their game at the right time, the playoffs. They stunned everyone by defeating the top three ranked teams in the GTHL to capture the championship. They carried their strong play into the OHL Cup and lost in the semi-finals to their arch-rivals the Toronto Red Wings in a hard fought spirited contest.
Peter DiSalvo (2009), G, 5'11, 185, OHL Cup 3-1-0
Very confident in goal as he challenges shooters and forces them to make the perfect shot as he angles well in the process .. good understanding of fundamentals .. quick feet and drops to the butterfly fast and recovers well .. average stick handler.
Outlook: Nobody increased their draft stock quite like DiSalvo did during his strong playoff drive. He stole countless games as he managed to save everything thrown at him. He intimidated shooters, often forcing them to think too much. His play in the playoffs showcased his mental composure and ability to elevate his game when it mattered most, a trait organizations covet especially in goalies.
McKeen's Rank: 38th Overall – 2nd on Mckeen's Top #10 Goalie List
Anthony Nigro (2008), LW 6'0, 160, OHL Cup 4-4-3-7-0
High offensive skill set .. positions himself well as he is able to elude many players and find his position on the ice to score .. shows a good work ethic but on occasion he has lapses in his commitment to defence .. good skater, 2nd gear acceleration will need some work .. plays on all special teams.
Outlook: Nigro was a bit of a mystery this season as he did not play up to his potential at times and it was very frustrating. He boasts a natural skill set that is unrivalled by any of his team mates yet he did not lead his team in scoring. His strong play at the OHL Cup showed that he could step it up and it was reflected on the score sheet. Nigro should play in the OHL next season but many facets of his game will need work to be successful.
McKeen's Rank: 22nd Overall
J.K. Gill (2008), LW, 6'2, 160, OHL Cup 4-1-6-7-2
A tall player with a smooth skating stride and quickness .. great outside speed and strong on his skates as he really drives to the outside to create scoring opportunities .. agile for his size and makes many smart plays distributing the puck well in traffic.
Outlook: A tall player with the potential to fill out will have him high on most draft lists. He had a modest skill set and an outside chance of playing in the OHL in a few seasons.
McKeen's Rank: 5th Round
Daniel Campini (2009), C, 5'11, 155, OHL Cup 4-1-3-4-4
A fast skater with great 2nd gear quickness .. good all around game who is able to contribute offensively and shut down teams defensively .. plays the PK due to his blazing speed and is always a threat to score.
Outlook: Relatively small by OHL standards, Campini may play in the OHL but he must physically mature first. His offensive totals throughout the season, playoffs and tournament play have not gone unnoticed as many teams are always in the market for a player who can put the puck in the net.
McKeen's Rank: 4th Round
Nick Crawford (2008), D, 6'1, 170, OHL Cup 4-0-1-1-0
A solid defender who is big, smart and agile .. plays good positional hockey and rids the puck from the zone calmly and effortlessly .. no panic point as his decisions are very calculated .. can QB a PP however his offensive skills are not fully polished.
Outlook: Was the back bone of the defence on this over achieving Flyer team. His play got better as the season wore on although he had an average OHL Cup it did not affect his draft stock substantially. He will play next season in the OHL as he is too smart for some team not to use his services to build a winner.
McKeen's Rank: 20th Overall
Great North All Stars, GNML, 1-2-0
Entering the OHL Cup this season after passing on it last year the Great North All Stars finished last in their division. They were a team of assembled players whose teams are no longer in the playoffs in the Great North Midget League.
Cody St.Jacques (2008), G, 5'11, 170 OHL Cup 0-1-0
Shows tremendous composure as he bounces back after giving up a goal with a strong save .. very athletic and competitive .. good lateral movement and quick reflexes allow him to make many timely saves .. challenges shooters .. strong rebound control .. decent stick handler.
Outlook: A gifted goalie who gives his chance a team to win every game. His defenders did not help him at all in his only loss of the tournament as they were unable to contain rushing forwards who banged away rebounds in front. He played briefly in another contest but was not credited for the loss. He should be able to play at the OHL level however many goalies take a little longer to capture a roster spot.
McKeen's Rank: 4th to early 5th Round – 4th on Mckeen's Top #10 Goalie List
Jeff Verreault (2008), C, 5'9, 160 OHL Cup 3-3-2-5-0
A player with outstanding speed and great finish .. strong hockey sense especially around the net .. great shot as he gets it off his stick fast .. smooth stick handler who burns many players with his quick hands .. defensively he is ok .. his play along the boards and in danger areas is non-existent as he lacks the physical strength to battle for loose pucks in those areas.
Outlook: Had a great game against the Ottawa Valley Titans and was the main reason they won their only game as he scored two goals including a great penalty shot goal. He has superior offensive skills however his lack of size prohibits his chances of playing in the OHL. He most likely will continue to play Midget up north and will be a player that is closely monitored by the team that retains his rights.
McKeen's Rank: Mid 4th to Early 5th Round
Michael Mascioli (2008), RW, 5'10, 190 OHL Cup 3-1-0-1-6
An extremely aggressive player who finishes all checks and competes with fire in his eyes .. power forward build, he ploughs through people and takes the most direct way to the net to create scoring chances .. good skater with pick up speed and acceleration .. decent offensive capabilities but will need to develop still .. his defensive zone positioning needs work as he looks lost at times without the puck .. he is a dump and chase player who prefers to work the corners and play a down low game.
Outlook: He is a high octane bang and crash type player. He will sacrifice his body for the good of the team and do what ever it takes to win. He still needs some seasoning in his game and a year of Midget may help him become a more complete player ready for the OHL.
McKeen's Rank: Late 4th to Late 5th Round
OHL CUP 2006 (posted 4.17.06)
by David Burstyn
The OHL Cup Showcase Tournament features the top minor midget teams from Ontario, along with selected teams from the USA. Sixteen teams competed for the OHL Cup. The GTHL due largely to the strength of their league this season and the late omissions of a few American teams were represented with six teams. The Ottawa District Minor Hockey Association, (ODMHA), and the Ontario Minor Hockey Association, (OMHA) had three teams each with the remainder of the teams being selected from the Alliance and various Northern Leagues of Ontario.
The Markham Waxers were the number one ranked team for the better part of the season and were the favorites coming into the tournament. They had not lost a game in the regular season or the playoffs, with their last loss being at the Whitby Silver Stick back in November. They did not disappoint and won the OHL Cup putting an exclamation point on an incredible season.
Traditionally many players who play in this tournament go on to have successful OHL and NHL careers. Last season half of the players chosen in the first round had played in the year end tournament. This season that number looks to increase. Mckeen's projects 17 of the top 20 players to be from teams who participated in the OHL Cup Showcase.
Over the next few days Mckeen's will have player profiles on over 75 prospects. Giving detailed scouting reports, projected draft position in accordance with our top 40 and beyond as well as height, weight and tournament statistics.
Here is a list of the top 20 scorers at the OHL Cup Showcase:
