NCAA: Eno Bowling Green Falcons on Saturday

Sporting impressive goaltending and a dynamic first line, the Bowling Green Falcons have more than held their own in the CCHA this season and find themselves in the top 20 of the national polls. McKeen's correspondent Max Giese looks at goaltenders and NHL draft picks Jim Spratt and Nick Eno, as well as Kevin Schmidt and Patrick Tiesling.
Jim Spratt (Cgy), G, Bowling Green Falcons

Smart goaltender that masks his lack of size with his calm demeanor and game-reading skills .. smooth skater that moves fluidly laterally without losing form or overextending himself .. difficult to beat down low, as he uses standard and paddle-down techniques to effectively use his stick to clog the five-hole .. technically solid with a tight butterfly, sound rebound control, and the knowledge to put his entire body behind most saves, limiting the holes he gives the shooter to look at .. displays textbook form in both his glove and blocker, as he gets good body leverage to extend his limbs .. reads the play well, as he is always set for the first shot and rarely commits unnecessary movements .. could be quicker side-to-side from the butterfly, although he does a commendable job staying poised during in-close scrums, as he rarely resorts to flopping around .. lack of prototypical NHL size is the main issue, as he is mostly exposed by defenseman that can pick corners from the point through traffic.
Nick Eno (Buf), G, Bowling Green Falcons
Athletic but green freshman that plays every Saturday night .. technically solid goaltender with the quick leg reflexes to make the first save consistently .. flexible with great leg extension and a wide butterfly that covers the lower portion of the net exceptionally well .. quick laterally and a nimble skater in his crease .. not a hyper kid and he does a good job using his broad shoulders to make saves up high, as his gloves are just okay .. must improve his patience, as he often makes the first move and he also struggles to read the play at times .. struggles to recover after making the initial save and he must improve his shoddy rebound control, as the puck can hit him square in the chest yet he cannot control it giving the opposition prime scoring opportunities .. plenty of upside in this very raw package.
Kevin Schmidt (UFA), D, Bowling Green Falcons
Highly skilled offensive defenseman that plays like a fourth forward on the ice, as he loves to jump and carry the puck up ice .. can thread the needle with a home run pass that hits his man tape-to-tape in full stride behind the opposition's defenses .. owns the offensive instincts that scouts covet .. likes to jump and join the rush at every opportunity, as he will even park himself down low near the opposition's net during an extended offensive attack .. deceptively fast skater that actually moves with more speed when in possession of the puck .. .. most dangerous when he decides to attack the opposition from the point where he displays his quick one-on-one moves, as well as understated creativity with the puck .. defensively, he angles his man effectively to the outside off the rush and can play physical, although he must become stronger and improve his play around his own net to warrant NHL consideration.
Patrick Tiesling (2008), LW, Bowling Green Falcons
Continues to receive NHL interest in his freshman season for his impressive physical package .. possesses NHL-caliber size with smooth skating ability .. questionable hockey sense and lack of consistent drive will likely keep him from being drafted again this year.
