Montembeault, Abramov and Roy named the three stars of the month of January

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday Feburary 1st, 2016 - – Samuel Montembeault, Vitalii Abramov et Nicolas Roy were named today the three stars for the month of January.

The first star of the month is awarded to the Blainville-Boisbriand goaltender, Samuel Montembeault. The Florida Panthers’ prospect finished the month with a record of 5 wins and 3 losses while keeping a goals against average of 1.89 and save percentage of 0.926%. He recorded a 3-0 shutout against the Baie-Comeau Drakkar on January 17th. He was involved in a 1-0 overtime loss on January 22nd where he faced 31 shots. His lifetime goals against average of 2.54 put him in a great position to beat Ondrej Pavelec’s record of 2.52.

Vitalii Abramov, Gatineau Olympiques forward, is the second star of the month. During the month of January, the 17 year-old rookie scored a League best 11 goals, he also added 12 assists and maintained a +10 rating. He scored at least 2 points in 7 of the 13 games he played this month. His best game came on January 9th against the Halifax Mooseheads where he scored a hat trick and added 2 assists in an 8-4 victory. He currently leads all rookies in the following categories: points (74), goals (31), assists (43) and +/- (25). His 74 points put him in fifth place as the league’s best point getter.

The third star of the month is awarded to the Chicoutimi Saguenéens’ centerman, Nicolas Roy. In 10 games, he scored 10 goals, added 8 assists and maintained a +5 rating. The Carolina Hurricanes’ prospect score a goal in 8 of the 10 games and recorded 2 or more points in 4 of them. He recorded a personal high 4 assists on January 29th in a 6-2 win over the Shawinigan Cataractes. He now has 61 points in 43 games this season.
