Maple Leafs Prospect Profile - Miguel Delisle

Miguel Delisle (Ottawa 67's) - The 100th overall pick in 2000, Delisle elevated his game to superstar levels during his fourth OHL season, capturing the league goal-scoring crown with 55 markers, including a league-high 19 on the power play. Miguel's contributions were vital for a 67's club which had lost three top forwards following the 2000-01 season, including leading scorer Joe Talbot.
Scouting: Somewhat reminiscent of Todd Bertuzzi, Delisle is an instinctive goal scorer who plays a rugged power game. Delisle has shown the ability to take over a game with the odd bit of individual brilliance, although he still can frustrate at times with his wavering intensity level. Blessed with excellent hands, he boasts a lethal wristshot and handles the puck extremely well, even in tight quarters. One of his best attributes is his willingness to take the puck to the net, a trait which has steadily improved over the past few seasons. The biggest knock against Delisle early in his career was his lack of high-end speed, but he has made significant strides in this area as well.
Grade (B): Delisle also brings solid leadership abilities to the mix, having worn the captain's C for a period of time this season. He has the size, skill and tenacity to excel in the NHL, but needs to develop better consistency and continue to improve his overall quickness to be an impact player. If Miguel can overcome the classic symptoms that usually plague young power forwards, he has a chance to become a productive scoring-line winger.
