Kyle Wellwood - OHL Player of the Week
The Ontario Hockey League today announced that Windsor Spitfires centre Kyle Wellwood is the OHL Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday March 23 after scoring two goals and six assists for eight points in three playoff games.
Wellwood opened the week with a goal in a 3-2 loss to the London Knights in the opening game of their Western Conference playoff series on March 20. He assisted on two goals, including the game-winner in a 4-1 win to even the series on March 21 and then assisted on four goals and scored the game-winner in overtime to give the Spitfires a 7-6 win in game three.

Wellwood, a 19-year-old native of Oldcastle, leads all OHL players with eight playoff points. He was the Spitfires leading scorer in the regular season with 41 goals and 59 assists for 100 points in 57 games.
The sixth round pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2001 was a member of Canada's silver medal winning team at the World Junior Championships in Halifax in January.
