Krahn wins CHL Player of the Week honours

Goaltender Brent Krahn of the Seattle Thunderbirds is the Canadian Hockey League Player of the Week for the week ending March 19, 2003. Each week during the regular season a CHL player of the week will be selected based on the players of the week from the CHL's three member leagues. This week's player of the week selection is the final one of the 2002-03 season.

In three games last week Krahn went undefeated recording 2 shutouts and posted a .33 goals against average and a .984 save percentage. A highlight of the week for Krahn was his 26 save performance on March 12 in the Thunderbirds' 2-0 road win over the Spokane Chiefs. Krahn's second shutout of the week also came on the road as he made 15 saves against the Portland Winter Hawks in a 2-0 Seattle win on March 15. A 20-year-old from Winkler, Manitoba, Krahn appeared in 28 games this season finishing the season with four shutouts, a 2.96 goals against average and a .896 save percentage. Selected ninth overall by the Calgary Flames in the 2000 National Hockey League Entry Draft, Krahn had a 2002-03 win-loss-tied record of 16-10-2.
Josh Hennessy of the Quebec Remparts is the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending March 18. In four games last week Hennessy, who played in the 2003 Home Hardware CHL Top Prospects Game, recorded 11 points on six goals and five assists. The QMJHL's Defensive Player of the Week is Cape Breton Screaming Eagles' goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury. Fleury, who also played in this year's Home Hardware CHL Top Prospects Game, recorded a win and a tie in two games last week as he posted a 1.92 goals against average and a .955 save percentage.
Patrick O'Sullivan of the Mississauga IceDogs was selected as the Ontario Hockey League's Player of the Week. In three games last week O'Sullivan, who is a leading prospect for the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, scored four goals and added six assists as his play helped the IceDogs win all three games and clinch a playoff spot for the first time in their five year history in the OHL.
