Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League today announced that Kamloops Blazers’ forward Erik Christensen has captured the Bob Clarke Trophy as the WHL’s Top Scorer.

Christensen recorded 54 goals and 108 points in 67 games this season, including 18 power-play goals, two short-handed goals, and 10 game-winning goals and a plus-minus rating of 25.
The 19 year-old from Leduc, Alberta, has played four seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Blazers. He has recorded 106 goals and 224 points in 275 regular season games. The last Blazer to the capture the WHL Top Scorer award was Len Barrie in 1989-90.
Christensen beat out Kelowna Rockets’ forward Jesse Schultz to capture this prestigious award. Schultz finished the WHL’s regular season with 104 points. Christensen also finished the WHL regular season as the WHL’s top goal scorer with 54 goals.
Bob Clarke captured the League scoring title in both years he played in the Western Hockey League with the Flin-Flon Bombers. In 1967-68, he recorded 51 goals and 168 points in 59 games, and in 1968-69, he scored 51 goals and 137 points in 58 games. In 1968-69, Clarke led the Bombers to victory in the WHL Championship.
Clarke went on to play 15 seasons with the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers. He won two Stanley Cups, three Hart Memorial Trophies as the NHL’s MVP, the Bill Masterton Trophy for perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey and the Selke Trophy as the NHL’s top defensive forward.
