Derek Roy - OHL Player of the Week

Toronto - The Ontario Hockey League today announced that Kitchener Rangers centre Derek Roy is the OHL Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday January 19, 2003 after scoring four goals and two assists for six points in three games.
Roy, a 19-year-old native of Rockland, opened the week with two goals and an assist to help the Rangers to a 6-4 win over the Barrie Colts on January 17. He followed up with the game-winning goal and an assist in a 4-2 win over London on January 18 and concluded the week by scoring the game-winning goal in a 4-1 win over the Guelph Storm on January 19.

Roy, who won a silver medal with Canada's national junior team at the World Junior Championships in Halifax, improved his season scoring totals to 20 goals and 39 assists for 59 points in 32 games.
