CHL Player of the Week - Nikita Korostelev

Toronto, ON - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that 2015 NHL Draft prospect Nikita Korostelev of the Sarnia Sting is the CHL Player of the Week after recording seven points in two games scoring three goals and four assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-6 for the week ending October 12.
Korostelev scored a career-high five points on Saturday night as part of a 9-2 victory over the Windsor Spitfires to give the Sting their third win in a row. In that contest, the sophomore forward netted his first career hat-trick and picked up two assists receiving first star honours. One day earlier, Korostelev picked up two assists in a 3-1 victory over the Saginaw Spirit.

Korostelev, a 17-year-old native of Moscow, Russia, is playing in his second career OHL season with the Sting. After recording 38 points in 60 games as a rookie last season, Korostelev has four goals and six assists for 10 points in seven games so far this season and was listed among the OHL 'Players to Watch' for the 2015 NHL Draft by NHL Central Scouting as a second or third round candidate.
Also considered for the award this week was Ivan Nikolishin of the Everett Silvertips who scored two goals and four assists for six points in two games, while Los Angeles Kings prospect Valentin Zykov of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar scored three goals and three assists for six points in two games.
