CHL Player of the Week - Mike Aviani

Toronto, ON - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Spokane Chiefs' forward Mike Aviani is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending December 15 after scoring three goals and five assists for eight points in three games along with a plus-minus rating of plus-4.
Aviani helped the Chiefs win all three games last week including two against U.S Division rivals the Everett Silvertips. Last Wednesday night he scored the game-winner on the power play and added an assist in the 5-3 victory over the Silvertips at home, then scored the insurance marker as second star of a 2-0 road win over the Tips on Sunday. In between, Aviani collected his second five-point game of the season scoring the game-winner and adding four assists as first star of a 6-3 win over the visiting Prince George Cougars on Saturday.

Aviani, a 20-year-old from North Vancouver, BC, is playing in his fourth full WHL season with the Chiefs. He is currently tied for sixth in league scoring with 50 points in 35 games but ranks second in the league with 26 goals approaching his career-high of 30 set last season in 71 games played.
Also considered for the award this week was Phoenix Coyotes prospect Max Domi of the London Knights who scored five goals and six assists for 11 points in four games played, and Jean-Francois Plante of the Sherbrooke Phoenix who scored four goals and three assists for seven points in three games.
