CHL Player of the Week - Louick Marcotte

Toronto, ON - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that forward Louick Marcotte of the Gatineau Olympiques is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending March 15 after scoring three goals and six assists for nine points in two games with a plus-minus rating of plus-8.
Marcotte led the Olympiques to a pair of victories clinching a QMJHL playoff spot and moving up to 14th overall where they have 64 points with two regular season games remaining. On Friday night he earned first star honours with a goal and two assists in a 5-2 win over the Drummondville Voltiguers, then tied a career-high on Sunday with six points including two goals and four assists as second star of a 9-5 win over the Victoriaville Tigres.

Marcotte, a 21-year-old from Longueuil, QC, is playing in his fifth and final QMJHL season. A member of the QMJHL champion Val-d'Or Foreurs last season, Marcotte has 35 goals and 39 assists for 74 points in 61 games in Gatineau this season and surpassed the 250 career-point mark in his 275th game on Sunday.
Also considered for the award this week was Calgary Flames prospect Sam Bennett of the Kingston Frontenacs who scored six goals and four assists for 10 points in three games, and WHL top scorer Columbus Blue Jackets prospect Oliver Bjorkstrand of the Portland Winterhawks who recorded 11 points in four games netting five goals and six assists.
