CHL Player of the Week - Kevin Labanc

Toronto, ON - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that San Jose Sharks prospect Kevin Labanc of the Barrie Colts is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending October 25 after scoring two goals and seven assists for nine points in three games with a plus-minus rating of plus-3.
Labanc helped the Colts earn three straight wins last week improving their record to 8-4-0-0 atop the OHL's Central Division standings. His week included three multi-point performances highlighted by a five-point game to match his career-high on Saturday night with a goal and four assists as first star of a 7-2 win over the Sudbury Wolves. Labanc also collected two assists on Thursday night helping the Colts defeat the Flint Firebirds 8-5, and then wrapped up his week on Sunday with the game-winning goal and an assist as part of a 5-3 win over the Oshawa Generals.

Labanc, a 19-year-old from Staten Island, New York, is playing in his third OHL season with the Colts. The sixth round pick of the Sharks in the 2014 NHL Draft has 15 points through 12 games so far this season after recording 107 points in 68 games last season with a franchise record 76 assists.
Also considered for the award this week was Nashville Predators prospect Anthony Richard of the Val-d'Or Foreurs who scored three goals and five assists for eight points in three games extending his point-streak to 14, while Jesse Gabrielle of the Prince George Cougars scored five goals and two assists for seven points in four games.
