CHL Player of the Week - Anthony Beauvillier

Toronto, ON - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that 2015 NHL Draft prospect Anthony Beauvillier of the Shawinigan Cataractes is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending January 18 with nine points in three games scoring twice with seven assists and a plus-minus rating of plus-1.
Beauvillier recorded three straight multi-point games last week helping the Cataractes earn a pair of victories climbing to seventh place in the overall QMJHL standings with 52 points. His week was highlighted by a career-high five-point performance on Friday night with a goal and a career-best four assists earning first star honours in a 6-2 victory over the Chicoutimi Sagueneens. Beauvillier opened the week with two assists on Wednesday helping the Cataractes score four unanswered goals in the third period to defeat the Val-d'Or Foreurs 6-4, and closed the week claiming third star honours with a goal and an assist despite a 4-3 loss to the Baie-Comeau Drakkar on Saturday.

Beauvillier, a 17-year-old from Sorel, QC, is playing in his second QMJHL season with the Cataractes. A top prospect for the 2015 NHL Draft, Beauvillier will compete in the 2015 BMO CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game on Thursday January 22 where he will captain Team Cherry. He is currently tied for third in QMJHL scoring with 66 points in 45 games including 31 goals and 35 assists.
Also considered for the award this week was Dallas Stars prospect Remi Elie of the Erie Otters who scored four goals and three assists for seven points in two games, and Tim McGauley of the Brandon Wheat Kings who scored twice with four assists for six points in three games.
