CHL Goaltender of the Week - Ty Edmonds

Toronto, ON - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Ty Edmonds of the Prince George Cougars is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending December 6 after posting a 3-0-0-0 record including a shutout victory with a goals-against-average of 0.77 and save percentage of .973.
Edmonds stopped 73 shots last week for the Cougars who have now won five-straight games for an overall record of 17-9-1-1 for third place in the WHL's B.C Division. His week was highlighted by a 27-save shutout performance, his second of the season, earning second star honours in a 3-0 victory over the Everett Silvertips on Friday night. His week also included a 31-save effort on Tuesday against the Portland Winterhawks where he was named second star of the 3-2 win, and Wednesday night against the Winterhawks where he stopped all 15 shots he faced in relief helping the Cougars comeback to attain a 5-3 triumph.

A 19-year-old from Winnipeg, MB, Edmonds is playing in his third career WHL season with Cougars and currently carries a record of 9-4-1-0. His goals-against-average of 1.98 ranks second among WHL netminders while his save percentage of .938 is a league-high.
Also considered for the award this week was Devin Williams of the Erie Otters who posted a 2-0-0-0 record including a shutout victory with a goals-against-average of 0.96 and save percentage of .957, and Alexandre Belanger of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles who also posted a 2-0-0-0 record with a goals-against-average of 1.50 and save percentage of .955.
