CHL Goaltender of the Week - Julio Billia

Toronto, ON - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Julio Billia of the Chicoutimi Sagueneens is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending October 18 after posting a 2-0-0-0 record with a shutout victory along with a goals-against-average of 1.00 and save percentage of .973.
Billia made 71 saves in two games backstopping the Sags to a pair of victories extending their winning-streak to four after beginning the season with an 0-8-1-0 record. On Friday night he stopped all 39 shots he faced for his first shutout of the season and fifth of his career earning first star honours in a 5-0 victory over the Charlottetown Islanders. Then on Sunday, Billia was named third star after a 32-save performance on the road in a 3-2 win over the defending champion Rimouski Oceanic.

Billia, a 19-year-old from St-Leonard, QC, is playing in his fourth QMJHL season with the Sagueneens after being a second round selected of the club in 2012. So far this season he carries a goals-against-average of 3.31 and .910 while facing the most shots in the QMJHL with 401.
Also considered for the award this week was Ian Scott of the Prince Albert Raiders who posted a 2-0-0-0 record including one shutout win stopping a total of 50 shots in two games for a goals-against-average of 0.60 and save percentage of .980, while St. Louis Blues prospect Luke Opilka of the Kitchener Rangers made 76 saves in three games posting a 3-0-0-0 record with a shutout victory along with a goals-against-average of 1.32 and save percentage of .950.
