CHL Goalie of the Week - Zachary Fucale

Toronto, ON - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Montreal Canadiens prospect Zachary Fucale of the Quebec Remparts is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the playoff week ending May 3 after posting a 2-0-0-0 record with one shutout along with a goals-against-average of 0.50 and save percentage of .980.
Fucale backstopped the 2015 MasterCard Memorial Cup host Remparts to a berth in the QMJHL Championship Series following a 4-0 series win over the Moncton Wildcats. In Game 3 last Monday night he made 24 saves and earned first star honours in the 5-1 victory, then posted his first shutout of the post-season stopping all 25 shots faced in a 7-0 Game 4 win last Tuesday. The Remparts will now face the Rimouski Oceanic for the President Cup beginning Tuesday night.

Fucale, a 19-year-old from Rosemere, QC, is playing in his fourth QMJHL season and first with the Remparts after being acquired from the Halifax Mooseheads in December. The 2013 MasterCard Memorial Cup champion and top goaltender is the QMJHL's all-time playoff wins leader with 46 while carrying a record of 11-1-1-0 this post-season along with a goals-against-average of 2.23 and save percentage of .920.
Also considered for the award this week was Ken Appleby of the Oshawa Generals who posted a 3-0-1-0 record against the North Bay Battalion with a goals-against-average of 1.44 and save percentage of .949, and Jordan Papirny of the Brandon Wheat Kings who went 2-0-1-0 against the Calgary Hitmen with a goals-against-average of 2.29 and save percentage of .927.
