CHL Goalie of the Week - Justin Nichols

Toronto, ON - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Justin Nichols of the Guelph Storm is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the playoff week ending April 5 after posting a 3-0 record with a goals-against-average of 1.29 and a save percentage of .965.
Nichols made 110 saves last week backstopping the defending OHL champions to a berth in the Western Conference Semi-Finals with a five-game series win over the Owen Sound Attack. With the series tied 1-1 and the Storm playing on the road, Nichols made 34 saves and earned third star honours in a 2-1 victory in Game 3 last Tuesday night. On Wednesday night he put together a first star performance with a playoff career-high 48 saves in a 3-2 overtime victory in Game 4, then wrapped up the series with 28 saves on Saturday as second star of a 2-1 Game 5 victory over the Attack.

Nichols, a 19-year-old from St. Catharines, ON, is playing in his third OHL season and second with the Storm. After capturing a Robertson Cup with the team last season, Nichols posted a 34-20-2-1 record with two shutouts this season along with a 3.26 goals-against-average and a .907 save percentage.
Also considered for the award this week was rookie Carter Hart of the Everett Silvertips who went 2-0-1-0 in three games against the Spokane Chiefs posting a goals-against-average of 1.65 and save percentage of .952, while fellow rookie Daryl MacCallum of the Charlottetown Islanders went 2-1-0-0 with a shutout victory against the Sherbrooke Phoenix posting a goals-against-average of 1.38 and save percentage of .962.
