CHL Goalie of the Week - Etienne Montpetit

Toronto, ON - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that rookie Etienne Montpetit of the Val-d'Or Foreurs is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the two-week period ending December 28 with a 2-0-0-0 record including a shutout victory with a goals-against-average of 1.50 and save percentage of .952.
Montpetit backstopped the Foreurs to a pair of victories over the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. Before the holiday break he earned his second career shutout on December 18 with 31 saves as first star of a 5-0 win at home, then made 28 saves on the road Sunday helping the Foreurs pick up the 8-3 win over the Huskies to improve their record to 16-16-2-4 this season.

Montpetit, a 17-year-old from Sallaberry-de-Valleyfield, QC, carries an 11-8-0-0 record in his first career QMJHL season with the Foreurs. He is currently the league's top rookie netminder with a goals-against-average of 3.34 with a save percentage of .889.
Also considered for the award this week was Cody Porter of the Vancouver Giants with a 1-0-1-0 record posting a goals-against-average of 1.00 and save percentage of .957, and Taylor Dupuis of the Sarnia Sting with a 2-0-0-0 record with a goals-against-average of 1.00 and save percentage of .966.
