Cam Ward Profile

Red Deer Rebel (WHL) goaltender and Carolina Hurricanes prospect (NHL), Cam Ward, was amongst the final players cut from Canada’s World Junior Team (02-03).
Scouting:

Butterfly style goaltender with good lateral movement. Cam Ward tends to be over cautious with the puck and will hold on to the puck when shot is made. Due to great positioning and being square to the shooter he makes most saves with his chest. He often makes the first move and can be caught too far back in the crease, but makes up for that with excellent reflexes and by being very flexible.
Will challenge shooters at times and likes to give the five-hole, but will quickly take it away. Ward is good with redirecting shots off his stick in to the corner, however, he must learn to cutdown the number of rebounds he gives up when making a save with his blocker.
Projection:
Is likely a few seasons away from playing in the NHL, but will be given every opportunity to make it as a starting goalie when the time comes.
