Brent Krahn - WHL Player of the Week

Calgary - The Western Hockey League Player of the Week is goaltender Brent Krahn of the Seattle Thunderbirds. Krahn earned player of the week honours by recording three wins and one overtime loss, including back-to-back shutouts in four games versus the Kootenay Ice as the Thunderbirds won the best-of-seven WHL Western Conference Semi-Finals four games to one. Krahn recorded an impressive 0.69 goals against average and a 0.972 save percentage.
On Monday, April 7th, Krahn recorded 23 saves in a 4-0 shutout home win in Game 2 of the best-of-seven WHL Western Conference Semi-Finals. On Wednesday, April 9th, Krahn turned aside all 27 shots he faced in a 5-0 shutout road victory in Game 3 of the series.

On Thursday, April 10th, Krahn recorded 34 saves in a 2-1 overtime loss in Cranbrook in Game 4 of the series. On Saturday, April 12th, Krahn made 21 saves in a 2-1 home victory in Game 5 of the series.
The Seattle Thunderbirds will now play the Kelowna Rockets in the WHL Western Conference Final.
Krahn, a 20-year-old from Winkler, Manitoba, was drafted in the first round, 9th overall, by the Calgary Flames in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
Honorable mention goes to goaltender Geoff McIntosh of the Brandon Wheat Kings.
