Protypical smallish forward .. waterbug agility and impressive acceleration .. drives hard to the net and doesn’t back off from going into high traffic areas .. played on both the PK and PP .. displayed good defensive awareness by coming back and picking up his man .. rewarded with a lot of quality ice time .. holds up the other center on faceoffs .. excellent stickhandler .. has a nice snap to his wrist shot .. puck tends to follow him .. did lose the handle on a great scoring chance, but otherwise made few glaring mistakes in either end .. scored a nice goal on a breakaway that showcased his top end speed, acceleration and elite stickhandling – not to mention finishing off the play with a deke that left the goalie looking for nickels.
Matt Francis Surrey Eagles (BCHL), C:
Defensive specialist .. good wheels and agile .. a regular on both the PK and PP .. quick aggressive forechecker .. great pursuirer of the puckcarrier .. nice pass to setup a scoring chance .. still needs to get stronger .. leads his teammates with his passes .. uses his stick reasonably well to close down passing lanes.
Mike Moore Surrey Eagles (BCHL), D:
Wears an “A” .. good skater .. keeps the puck and player in front of him .. will pinch in deep from the point looking for a loose puck or a pass .. on PK, but suprisingly had little time on the PP and when he did it was generally late in the penalty .. takes himself out of position at times trying to force plays .. questionable passing skills .. showed his versatility by playing on both the left and right sides .. poor coverage in his own zone .. chippy, but didn’t pound anyone with a big hit .. tends to use his stick to slow down the opposition .. he is all over the ice and is more like a rover than a true defenseman .. likes to not only join a rush, but lead it when given a chance.
