BCHL: Schultz Knows Hockey

Justin Schultz (2008), D, Westside
The slick skating defenceman from Westbank, BC definitely has room to add some muscle to his slender 6-foot-1, 170-pound frame .. boasts the ability to turn on a dime with or without the puck .. has explosive speed out of the blocks and when combined with his ability to elude checkers he is able to go end-to-end .. sported some chemistry partnering with Joel Woznikoski .. can force opponents to take penalties due to his slipperiness .. a regular on the powerplay where he has scored four of his five goals this season .. does a real nice job playing the man and narrows the gap quickly. (38gp, 5-19-24)

Trevor Bailey (2008), F, Westside
Pint-sized forward (5-foot-8, 170-pounds) was already passed over in the draft and is unlikely to be selected this season .. has popped in seven powerplay goals this season .. boasts the ability to stickhandle in tight quarters .. played on a line with David Arduin and Bryce Kakoske .. not hesitant to go in traffic to retrieve loose pucks .. has a bit of an edge to his game as witnessed by his 47 penalty minutes. (40gp, 14-23-37)
Bryce Kakoske (2008), RW, Westside
Sports some zip to his slap shot and his wrist shot is fairly heavy .. good size at 6-foot-1, 200-pounts .. played some point on the powerplay .. looked comfortable on a line with David Arduin and Trevor Bailey. (34gp, 11-15-26)
Nathan Lieuwen (2009), G, Westside
Tall 16-year-old goaltender is pretty good at keeping his torso vertical when he goes down .. gets to his knees quickly, however still needs to work on how long it takes him to get back on his skates .. prone to be beaten upstairs as he leaves huge holes in the top corners .. looks a tad unsure with his trapper .. showed nice ability to force the shooter to make the first move on the breakaway .. still improving his quickness in coming across the net .. his numbers are terrific and he is definitely one to watch for next year, however there is still work to be done. (GAA 1.81, Sv% 0.947)
Rich Manley (2008), F, Burnaby
Humungous (6-foot-5, 235-pounds) Buffalo, New York native tends to bring out the venom in some hockey people due to his inability to use his size .. wears an A .. very good overall speed for his size .. looked alright on a line with Alex Valenti and Brennan Vargas .. not a punishing hitter, choosing more often to cut down time and space on the forecheck without actually taking the body .. sees time on both special teams .. tends to work harder with the puck than without it .. boasts a lot of physical tools, but leaves you wanting more especially with regards to his determination and physicality.
