BCHL: Robinson Blending In

Matt Robinson (2004), LW, South Surrey
On a line with Korey Diehl and Blake Rielly .. was tied up completely in front of the net .. got to the hash marks and let loose a powerful wrist shot that the goalie deflected over the glass.. has good size .. needs to initiate more as he can fall in the trap of being a perimeter player .. has a hard accurate slap shot.. forced the defender into taking a tripping penalty by stickhandling through him .. delivered a stiff check .. had his shot blocked .. seemed to work harder on the forecheck as it got later in the game .. drilled a shot just wide .. sometimes gets caught flatfooted when defending .. dished out a solid hit behind the net creating a turn over, he passed the puck out front for a scoring chance .. can stickhandle at top speed.

Matt Francis (2004), C, South Surrey
Started the game on a line with Andrew Kozek and Mark Lindsay .. made a sweet pass to an open teammate in the slot .. on the PK and PP .. uses his speed effectively to close the gaps on the forecheck and forces the puckcarrier to make a play before they’re ready .. elite overall speed, acceleration and mobility .. fearless going in to traffic .. while on the penalty-kill he beat a defender by taking him inside then outside and getting a great scoring chance .. the coaching staff play him in every important situation .. his game seems suited for college, but his lack if size could hinder his chances of turning pro .. Francis is at his best when playing an up-tempo, energy game .. had a two-on-one, but failed to move the puck to the open man.
Mike DiStefano (2004), RW, Alberni Valley
On the penalty-kill and powerplay .. on a line with Nenad Gajic and James Ardelan .. although not the prettiest skater, he has above average speed and mobility .. looks for the holes and displays excellent anticipation .. stickhandled around a defenseman and got a scoring chance .. took the puck to the net and snuck it through the goalie .. keeps his head up when he has the puck .. moved the puck to the open point man for a scoring chance .. had a breakaway and was hooked just enough from behind that he couldn’t get a shot on goal .. fought off a checker, but sent a lazy pass in to the slot that was picked off by the opposition .. would do well to improve his first-step quickness .. got another breakaway while shorthanded, but was stopped at the side of the net trying to score on the backhand.
Andrew Kozek (2004), LW, South Surrey
Drove to the net and drilled a slapshot off the post .. on a line with Matt Francis and Mark Lindsay .. dished out a solid hit along the boards, creating a turnover .. has elite acceleration and exceptional speed .. lacks size, but is mobile enough to avoid big hits .. received a PIM for interference .. active stick on the forecheck .. in the offensive zone lines up at right wing .. won a faceoff and held up the opposing center .. anticipated an Alberni Valley’s defenseman’s breakout pass and intercepted it .. supports the defense by coming back and picking up a man .. has some zip to his wrist shot .. beat a defender wide, but wasn’t able to move the puck to an open teammate in the slot .. late in the game and trailing by a pair was taken off the top line to center his own line.
