BCHL: Rejuvenated Basford

Adam Basford (2007), LW, Surrey
Seems to be somewhat rejuvenated after a coaching change .. supports the puck and goes to the net reasonably well .. stickhandles effectively at top speed, however lacks the explosive acceleration to back off checkers .. displays a nice touch and continues to choose being a playmaker over that of a shooter .. lacks the strength to be much of a force in the dirty areas and can allow himself to get boxed out of the play too easily .. must get his shot away quicker .. pretty good at finding the holes and is at his best when he's showing some elusiveness and slipping off checks .. played on the powerplay .. possesses a fairly heavy slap shot .. quite adept at the give and go. Sean Donnelly (2008), G, Surrey
Young goaltender is a season away from being eligible for the NHL Entry Draft and if he can keep his wits about him as he struggles on one of the BCHL's bottom feeders he might be a player to watch .. in 19 appearances did not record a win as the backup to veteran Kyle Funkenhauser .. selected by the Eagles as the team's hardest worker .. came in to a bad situation in a game and with his team down two men .. sometimes comes up short when he comes across .. not the type of goaltender that instills confidence in his team, at least not yet .. boasts pretty good reflexes .. his dad often sings the national anthem for the Vancouver Canucks. Michael Quinn (2009), D, Surrey
Likely no player benefited more from the coaching change than did Quinn as his ice time has increased exponentially .. the buzz around him has already started and as he physically matures it should grow as his draft year nears .. light on his feet and glides effortlessly around the ice .. boasts quickness to his shot that should eventually translate to an increase in offensive production .. played on both special teams .. listed at 160 lbs, still needs to add some beef to his 6'0" frame .. selected as the Eagles most improved player .. usually shows that he is very alert and won't allow opponents to slip by him .. needs to showcase more determination physically, especially in his own zone .. starting to display the ability to slip out of the way of heavy checks and maintain puck possession .. sometimes gets caught chasing the man with the puck.
