BCHL: No Sibling Rivalry

The Salmon Arm Silverbacks are hoping they can catch lightning in a bottle twice with the additions of two players with well-known brothers that played in the BCHL last season. Whether Mark Santorelli or Darcy Zajac will come close to reaching, let alone surpassing the success that Mike Santorelli or Travis Zajac had last season is highly unlikely at this point. We have notes on the two siblings from a recent game.

Played on a line with Darcy Zajac and Josh Lund .. nice tape-to-tape pass in the offensive zone .. got a regular shift, but never got any time on either of the special teams ..picks up the man on the back check .. took a lazy hooking penalty .. got a scoring chance coming out of the penalty-box, however showed little imagination blasting the puck right at the goaltender .. good wheels, but nothing spectacular .. still has a lot of time in which to mature physically as he isn’t eligible to be drafted until 2006.
Darcy Zajac (2005), C
Played on a line with Mark Santorelli and Josh Lund .. displays excellent pursuit of the puck carrier while on the forecheck .. so far lacks the imagination of his more famous sibling .. was caught going for the puck instead of the man .. displays potential to be an up and comer in the draft if he can develop some touch offensively .. stirred up some trouble with what at first glance appeared to be a heavy, but clean body check through center ice, however, the officials gave him a five minute kneeing penalty and a game misconduct after initially making no call on the play.
