BCHL: Kane is Able

Mike Collins (2009), LW, Vernon
In his first year in the BCHL, but was eligible for the NHL Entry Draft last season .. comes back on defence .. possesses a 6-foot-0, 180 pound frame .. lacks explosiveness to his skating and his stride is average .. sees time on the powerplay .. played on a line with Chris Crowell and centered by Braden Pimm .. is a decent player at this level, however doesn't showcase the upside that would make him a likely candidate to be selected in the 2009 Draft .. committed to Merrimack for 2010-2011. (10gp, 5-5-10)

Steve Tresierra (2009), D, Vernon
Communicates with his defensive partner .. wears an A .. makes crisp, hard passes .. plays on both the powerplay and penalty-killing units .. partners with Kevin Kraus .. not a player likely to be drafted. (10gp, 3-1-4)
Cory Kane (2009), C, Vernon
Native of Irvine, California is blessed with a 6-foot-3, 190 pound frame .. a BCHL rookie, but was eligible (by one day) for the 2008 NHL Entry Draft .. does a nice job holding his opponent off in the faceoff circle .. boasts a superb burst out of the gate .. has the stickhandling and overall speed to beat a defender one-on-one .. takes the pass at full stride .. must improve his compete level and do a better job sticking with his man in the defensive zone .. rarely uses his size to make an opponent pay a physical price .. blessed with good hand-eye coordination .. lacks some intensity without the puck .. a regular on the powerplay and does see some time on the point .. centered the line of Bryce Kakoske and Ryan DePape. (7gp, 1-3-4)
Trent Dorais (2009), LW, Vernon
First year eligible for the draft as well as being a BCHL rookie .. will take the body, but at 5-foot-10, 160 pounds isn't the most physically imposing forechecker out there .. lacks much power to his skating stride, yet is a fairly mobile and quick overall skater .. played on a line with Sahar Gill and Rob Short. (5gp, 0-1-1)
Adam Thompson (2009), D, Vernon
All purpose BCHL rookie was draft eligible last season .. sports the strength and mobility to be effective in the dirty areas .. uses his stick well to backoff create turnovers .. sturdy on his skates as he's listed at 6-foot-1, 190 pounds .. will move in from the point if there's an opportunity .. doesn't show much imagination with the puck, instead generally relies on making the high percentage play .. fairly strong on his skates .. lacks a howitzer that would make him a steady threat from the point .. partners with Cody Ikkala .. played in a ton of situations and was a regular on both special teams .. a player that might deserve a second look, but probably has a limited chance for hearing his name on the second day of the Draft. (10gp, 2-2-4)
