BCHL: Greening With Envy

The Nanaimo Clippers find themselves in first place in the Island Division of the BCHL with 15 wins in their first 18 games. Ottawa Senators' prospect Colin Greening is a big part of the fast start and we take a look at Newfoundland native. We also have notes on Craig Gaudet, Trevor Wilson and Kyle Ostrow.
Craig Gaudet (FA), D

In 11 games thus far, he has 6 assists .. is committed to St. Cloud State (NCAA) .. not big at 5'10-185lbs., but is surprisingly strong on his feet and generally gets the most out of what he does have .. is extremely mobile, with quick feet .. moves the puck crisply and accurately .. is usually effective at slipping his point shot through for deflections and rebounds .. must be more alert on forwards trying to sneak in behind him .. won't shy away from taking a hit to make a play .. seems like he is on the ice every other shift with his time on the power play and penalty-killing unites .. partnered with Taylor Reid.
Colin Greening (Ott), LW
Currently tied for the team lead in points with 21 (5-16-21) after 18 games .. has committed to Cornell for next season .. plays on a line of Kyle Ostrow and Brennen Francon .. blessed with power behind his slap shot and should be more dangerous with it given his splendid release .. not hesitant to shoot .. is fairly quick out of the blocks and when he turns on the jets he has the ability to catch a checker flat-footed .. displays very good puck pursuit .. keeps his feet moving on contact .. doesn't shy away from parking himself in front and taking abuse .. plays on the power play .. very opportunistic without the puck .. has offensive upside thanks to a maturing skill set that should continue to develop.
Trevor Wilson (2006), D
Vancouver native has chipped in with five points (0-5-5) in 16 games .. partnered with Erik Belanger .. has a nice array of shots with a heavy slap & wrist shot being the most effective .. is fairly quick with nice mobility and has good acceleration .. he's listed at 6'0 and 190lbs., but those vitals look a tad inflated .. sees time on the penalty-killing units .. is more of a project than a prospect for the upcoming draft and would be well advised to go the college route.
Kyle Ostrow (2006), D
Smallish pivot is committed to the University of Denver for the following season and currently has 15 points (6-9-15) in 18 games this campaign .. plays on a line with Colin Greening and Brennen Francon .. gets a magnificent jump out of the blocks thanks to his awesome acceleration and has the overall speed to beat a defender on the outside .. closes the gaps well while on the PK .. takes the pass smoothly at top speed .. has some zip to his slap shot .. needs to fight through contact more effectively as at times he allows himself to be tied up a bit too easily .. is a regular on the power play.
