BCHL: Goodman Clips Along

Russell Goodman (2007), LW, Nanaimo
An accurate, crisp passer .. showcases a nice jump out of the blocks .. has a good release and some zip behind his shot ..boasts an air of confidence, but isn't cocky .. moves extremely well and is especially shifty, however lacks an elite top gear .. displays vision and reads the play effectively .. shows a willingness to either shoot from the scoring areas or pass to an open teammate .. will drive through traffic and is generally effective in the dirty areas thanks to his strength on the puck .. has a nose for the open spots .. did get on the penalty-kill until about the third or fourth kill .. about average when called upon to take a faceoff, although .. supports the puckcarrier nicely .. backs up pinching defender communicates with his teammates .. rarely took the body with authority, choosing more to pressure the puck and turn away as soon as the puck is moved – in fact rarely engages an opponent physically .. will drop down to block a shot, yet demonstrates more guts than technique .. plays on the powerplay .. played on a line with Tyler Mazzei and Mikael Bedard. Justin Courtnall (2007), LW, Burnaby
Boasts good speed and closes the gaps on the forecheck .. needs to play with more determination, especially without the puck .. must work on his strength as he has difficulty fending off checkers .. doesn't get his nose dirty enough and too often is on the perimeter in the defensive zone .. lacks much power behind his shots and too often puts the puck right in to the goalies crest .. can be guilty of not moving his feet, however shows brief glimpses of offensive ability when he does skate hard. (53gp, 5-9-14)
Patrick Wiercioch (2008), D, Burnaby
Appears to have nice feet and good overall quickness out of the blocks .. selected as Rookie of the Year for the Express .. Patrick Wiercioch .. will go up for a hit .. lanky looking blueliner should easily be able to add 15 - 20 pounds to his 6'1 frame .. moves the puck reasonably well, although seems to lack confidence at the point on the powerplay .. a player to watch for next season as long as he continues to mature physically. (42gp, 9-16-25)
Kyle Turris (2007), C, Burnaby
Hot Burnaby Express forward simply ran out of time in his quest to win the regular scoring race finishing in second place .. was selected MVP and Top Forward by the team .. wears the A, but is truly the face of the franchise .. slim looking pivot will have to add some beef to his slender frame .. plays all the time and on every special team .. exceptionally quick stick which he uses well combined with his blazing speed to close down time and space on the puckcarrier .. boasts a thunderous slap shot and his wrist shot is also dangerous .. smart and skilled enough to play the point on the powerplay .. blessed with tremendous vision as few players at this level distribute the puck any quicker or cleaner. (53gp, 66-55-121)
Brad Hunt (2007), D, Burnaby
Not very big at all and a bit sluggish out of the block which isn't a great combination for anyone with pro aspirations .. selected as the teams' Most Outstanding Defenseman .. boasts a howitzer slap shot from the point .. will move in deep on the powerplay and also plays on the penalty-kill. (60gp, 4-34-38)
