BCHL: Clippers Float Along

Colton Cyr (2009), LW, Nanaimo
Hometown boy is unfortunately a few days away from being eligible for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft which would definitely have aided his draft stock .. speedy left winger is blessed with very good mobility and terrific acceleration, which helps him close the gap on the forecheck .. moves the puck well and even is able to dish out a crisp saucer pass .. his strength or lack thereof is a drawback and he really would have to improve in this area to be considered a legitimate draft prospect .. played on a line with Steve Mason and Zac Ashdown .. sees some time on the powerplay .. in 20 games last season he produced a goal and an assist. Michael Boivin (2009), D, Nanaimo
Offensive rearguard boasts very good acceleration, yet lacks an elite top gear .. will jump up for a scoring chance and has the confidence to drive the net .. has the confidence to drive the net, yet still needs to add some strength to be able to take a hit .. likes to join the rush and even lead it on occasion .. is a regular on both special teams .. must get rid of the shot quicker .. does a nice job closing down passing and shooting lanes .. as mentioned isn't a physical by any means, but competes in the dirty areas .. does a decent job finishing his checks, although sometimes will take himself out of position .. patrolled the blueline with multiple partners including Anders Franzon and Aaron Enns. (10gp,1-5-6)
Zac Ashdown (2009), RW, Nanaimo
Selected in the second round (32nd overall) by the Seattle Thunderbirds in the 2006 WHL Bantam Draft .. sports an awkward skating stride .. listed at 6-foot-1, 190-pounds .. finishes his checks, but lacks the mobility or speed to get there in time to put a lot of pressure on the puckcarrier .. sees time on the powerplay .. played on a line with Colton Cyr and Steve Mason .. works hard with or without the puck .. at this time his skating is simply too poor to be a legitimate candidate to be drafted. (10gp, 2-4-6)
Brandon Fagerheim (2009), C, Nanaimo
Played a game last season with Okotoks Oilers of the AJHL, but is in his first year with the Clippers .. lacks the elite acceleration to make up for his 5-foot-10, 172-pound frame .. goes to the net and will take the punishment to stay there, however isn't strong enough to be a force physically .. does a nice job holding off the other pivot off the faceoff .. doesn't possess a shot that will put fear in the hearts of many goalies .. plays on the powerplay. (10gp, 1-3-4)
