BCHL: Catching Stefishen

Taylor Stefishen (2008), RW, Langley
Goes to the front of the net .. reads the play well .. sports a developing leadership ability and isn't afraid to stand up for himself .. uses his stick to close down passing lanes .. looked comfortable on a line with Derek Grant and centered by Milos Gordic .. shows poise and patience with the puck even in traffic .. plays on both special teams .. does a nice job pressuring the puckcarrier thanks to very good mobility and overall skating .. displays superior vision and the touch to put the pass on the tape .. kind of a poor man's Kyle Turris .. is a good stickhandler, but seems to lack the elite gear that would allow him to slip past the defender easier .. possesses good hand-eye coordination .. will drop down in front of a shot .. uses a quick stick stick and solid positioning to force turnovers .. boasts good imagination .. supports the puckcarrier .. puck seems to follow him around .. generally an unselfish player, yet will take his shots. Derek Grant (2008), LW, Langley
Appears more and more comfortable as a go to guy on the Chiefs .. generally makes sure that he gets the puck out along the wall .. on occasion can appear to be a tad slow to react to developing plays in the Langley zone .. plays on a line with Taylor Stefishen and centered by Milos Gordic .. picks up his man on the PK .. not an overly imaginative player .. a regular on the powerplay .. supports the puckcarrier .. still appears a bit stiff, especially without the puck .. has been getting interest from NCAA teams .. looks for his teammates .. generally is crisp and accurate with his passes .. communicates with his teammates .. not a player that is going to go end-to-end, deking opponents out of their socks .. boasts a heavy shot, but sometimes is a tad too slow getting it away .. sports the size, 6-foot-3, 190-pounds, that scouts like, but still needs to work hard on his overall game. (57gp, 24-39-63)
Colton Beck (2008), LW, Langley
Barry Beck's nephew plays with some jump to his game .. keeps his feet moving even without the puck .. will take punishment in the scoring area for a scoring opportunity .. can appear a bit overmatched physically and looks a bit smaller than his 5-foot-10, 175-pound listing .. looks for his teammates and generally moves the puck efficiently .. does a nice job staying with his man in front of the net .. once in awhile kind of hesitates going in to areas where he is likely to pay a physical price .. has the bloodlines, but very unlikely to be selected in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
