BCHL: Being More Manley

Rich Manley (2008), LW, Burnaby
The 6-foot-5, 235-pounder native of Buffalo, New York still has many detractors for not showing enough determination or grit .. in fact it would be fair to say he rarely plays to his size, however did lead the Burnaby Express in penalty minutes with 98 .. wears an A .. sees time on the penalty-kill .. played on the second line with Tim Holloway and Brennan Vargas .. simply does not appear to be prepared to get his nose dirty on a regular enough bases .. skates really well especially given his size, but needs to get stronger on his skates as he does get knocked down a tad too easily .. not an overly dirty player, yet has been known to throw an errant elbow or even high stick a guy .. did not score a single powerplay goal in the regular season .. he remains a long shot to be selected this season, however there might be a team or two willing to take a chance on the big guy due to his physical gifts. Brodie Reid (2008), LW, Burnaby
6'0-185
Delta, British Columbia native is committed to Northeastern for the 2008-09 season .. the move to the Burnaby Express from the Surrey Eagles was a good one as he had a breakout season scoring 48 more goals and 29 more assists this year compared to last .. played on the top line with Cody Campbell and Carlo Finucci .. plays on both special teams .. generally moves the puck crisply and on the mark .. lacks elite quickness and mobility .. has a lot of success cycling the puck given his ability to read the play and handle the puck smoothly .. can look a tad sluggish getting back in the play .. will take the puck to the net, but unfortunately lacks the strength to bull over people .. unlikely to be selected once again at the NHL Entry Draft.
