BCHL: Avs Jones Blossoms

Andrew Lord (2004), C, Vernon
Wears an A .. tried unsuccessfully to go around the net and do a wrap around, but shot well wide .. skating style looks a tad awkward at times .. takes the man .. got on the penalty-kill late .. drew a penalty by driving hard to the net .. displays imagination and vision, especially in the offensive zone .. made a tremendous play kicking the puck up to his stick while along the boards and then dished it off to an open teammate .. used the wall to play the puck back to himself and beat the defender .. fought off a checker while driving hard to the net and not only was able to deliver a shot on goal, but had the presence of mind to be able to knock home the rebound .. was overmatched on the draw by Avalanche prospect’ David Jones and tossed down to the ice fairly easily .. received a holding PIM .. left his check a few times in the defensive zone .. showed a willingness to drop his gloves.

Mike Santorelli (2004), RW, Vernon
Occasionally took the draws and even centered a few shifts .. picked up the trailer .. looks for holes and is strong enough and fast enough to get there .. takes a hit to make a play and is willing to pays the price to go to the net .. made a few moves and got a weak shot off on his wrong foot, but it still gave the goalie trouble .. excellent first few steps as well as overall speed and mobility .. on the powerplay .. defensively aware .. covered the point when the defenseman pinched in .. throws his body around when necessary .. got away a heavy wrist shot after eluding a few checkers in the corner.
Jake Wilkens (2004), D, Vernon
Wears the C .. lined up at forward during the opening shift, but went back to his regular spot anchoring the defense thereafter .. excellent focus and leadership skills .. moves the puck swiftly to the open man .. on the PK and the PP .. very good mobility .. active stick .. has the speed to close gaps on the puck carrier .. lifted the stick of a player in the slot in the offensive zone and got a very good scoring chance .. took the puck and rushed it up the ice beating some forecheckers .. stays square to the puck carrier and keeps between the player and the goalie .. received a ton of quality ice time.
David Jones (Colorado Avalanche), C, Coquitlam
Wears the C .. drives hard to the net .. solid skater that has elite top end speed and an incredible burst from his first few steps .. forced a player, by shear effort, to hook him down .. strong in front of the net and more than willing to take abuse .. on both special teams .. defensively conscientious .. has the size and strength to score the dirty goals, but also has the sweet hands to make the pretty play .. excellent stickhandler .. holds up the opposing center on the draw .. created a turnover on the forecheck .. tends to dominate on most shifts .. good hand-eye coordination .. out muscled a guy along the boards while still maintaining puck possession .. good in the faceoff circle .. time and time again bullied his way past the opposition center off the draw .. took a breakaway pass, but was getting checked just enough to not get the shot away .. fluid, powerful strides.
Brock Bradford (2005), LW, Coquitlam
Was on the left side on a line with David Jones and Brandon Yip .. dazzling speed and mobility which makes him extremely elusive in high traffic areas and down right dangerous if he finds a hole .. quick release .. uses his speed to full advantage to put pressure on the puckcarrier .. can go in to traffic as long as he doesn’t stop skating as he just doesn’t have the strength to be very effective standing around .. most dangerous when creating plays off the rush .. played the point late in the third while on the powerplay and didn’t look out of place .. snuck a shot threw a bunch of players and on goal from the point .. developing in to a threat as quarterback on the PP.
