Another Sutter in Lethbridge

Brody Sutter (2010), RW, Lethbridge:
Another in the long list of Sutters (son of Duane) that have made their way to the WHL, in fact the WHL website credits 10 so far .. although listed at 6-foot-4, 190-pound frame, he still looks like he hasn't finished growing .. displays decent mobility for his size and uses his rather large wingspan to create turnovers .. appears to lack first step quickness and the ability to win the races with the puck .. not a physical threat and rarely makes the other team pay with a crushing hit .. needs to play with more fire and determination with and without the puck .. not selfish, in fact can overlook his own opportunity to send a pass to a teammate .. doesn't see time on either special team .. played on a line with Ryon Moser and Craig Orfino .. boasts some decent tools in his toolbox, but at this time remains more of a project than an elite level prospect. Ville Kolpannen (2010), D, Lethbridge:
Young Finnish netminder isn't expected to see a lot of time with the veteran Linden Rowat above him on the depth chart .. showcases pro level size, but doesn’t take advantage of it .. Kolpannen must improve where he redirects the rebounds as he is giving teams too many extra opportunities .. he's at his best when he comes out to the top of the circle and challenges the shooter .. needs to be more aggressive maintaining ownership of his crease .. gets caught cheating leaning away from the post and not properly guarding the short side .. should be better prepared for the second shot .. shows a nice ability to picking up the shot through traffic .. tends to go down too early, leaving holes up stairs .. boasts a quick glove and good reflexes overall .. is a project and will need a lot of work with a goalie coach to get drafted in the upcoming NHL Entry Draft. Carter Ashton (TB), RW:
Selected in the first round, 29th overall, by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft .. showcases determination with or without the puck .. is able to take the pass cleanly and without breaking stride .. uses his size and strength to bull his way through high traffic areas .. generally noticeable on the ice .. strong on his skates, yet won't beat many defenders wide .. a regular on the powerplay .. has taken another step from last season and (16gp, 9-9-18, -5)
We were looking at Lethbridge' defender Landon Oslanski who is eligible for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, unfortunately he was kicked out of the game .. he is one of the many new arrivals to the Hurricanes this season .. we did notice that Oslanski will move in from the point and is generally quite mobile .. communicates well with his defensive partner. ICE CHIPS: The Lethbridge Hurricanes might be receiving and unexpected early Christmas present with the possible return of Luca Sbisa. The Italian born, Swiss raised defender is apparently balking (or at least his agent is) at returning to Lethbridge and wants to go to a top club. Whatever the case, the Hurricanes have a highly sought after asset that should improve their franchise immediately whether he joins the team or is traded for assets.
