AJHL: Mason Jars Opposition

Left wing Mason Raymond led the Camrose Kodiaks to a convincing win over the South Surrey Eagles in the Doyle Cup. Raymond produced four goals and two assists in only four games and instilled fear in to the hearts of the opposition's defense. He currently sits first on the AJHL list for the 2005 NHL Entry Draft and that is unlikely to change any time soon. We have scouting notes from a recent playoff game featuring Raymond and some of his teammates.
T.J. Fast (2005), D

Powerplay mainstay partnered with Tanner Stockwell .. slap shot explodes off of his stick .. simply an amazing skater that can turn on a dime .. easily the most offensively talented rearguard on the Kodiaks .. snuck in to the deep slot and misfired on a terrific opportunity .. tried to tie up the player driving to the net, but was overpowered physically .. very good at moving or adjusting the passing/shooting lanes .. needs to improve his strength on the puck .. dishes out crisp, hard passes .. lost his man in the corner and allowed the opponent to get to the net first .. positioning in his own zone needs work .. a lot to like, especially his offensive upside, however he is so weak defensively that he doesn't play regularly at even strength .. could a change of position be in order?
Tanner Stockwell (2005), D
Big bodied defender partnered with T.J. Fast .. received a cross-checking penalty, but went off with an opponent .. used good hand-eye coordination to knock down a clearing attempt and create a mild scoring attempt .. when Fast would miss a shift, Stockwell would see time beside Todd Steil .. takes the body hard, although needs to improve his mobility and acceleration as he sometimes arrives late .. doesn't hesitate to jump up in to the play, especially at the blueline, in order to make a hit .. powerful stride, just isn't very quick .. played on the penalty-kill.
Mason Raymond (2005), LW
The object of a few dirty non-calls early in the Doyle Cup series versus the South Surrey Eagles of the BCHL .. turbo-charged skating ability, but smart enough to turn it on and off to keep checkers off guard .. like many star players, puck seems to follow him around .. almost connected on the give and go .. finished a check with a solid hit along the boards .. very alert on the ice .. keeps his slap shot low and hard .. has proven that he can not only take a hit, but that he can usually bounce right back up .. kept his composure very well under the most high pressured situations.
Logan Gorsalitz (2005), LW
A bit undersized .. closes the gaps on the puck carrier, however isn't strong or tenacious enough to be much of a threat in a checking or defensive role .. plays on a line with Chance Olsen and Matt Boyd .. terrific top end speed and mobility .. got limited opportunities on the power play .. will drive hard to the net looking for the pass .. supports the puck carrier .. slid a sweet saucer pass over to his linemate on a two-on-one for an easy goal .. works hard on the backcheck, just not strong enough to overly effective .. won't be a factor at the next level unless he gets significantly stronger/bigger.
