2011 Draft Watch: Tyler Hansen

Showcases nice size at 6-foot-3, 190-pounds, however still learning to use it effectively .. surprisingly nimble skater for his size, although possesses no big burst that would allow him to go end to end .. will battle for position in front of his net, but still will get exposed by skilled forwards that are able to slip off him .. he is already maturing in to a solid presence along the wall as he can rub a puckcarrier out completely when he gets all of him .. lacks an elite ability to read the play without the puck and will take himself out of the play looking for the big hit .. at his best when he keeps his game simple, i.e., moving the puck out of his zone .. can chuck the knuckles when provoked .. can get caught flat-footed and watching the puck in his own zone .. exhibits decent hand-eye coordination .. partnered with Austin Madaisky .. sees time on the second penalty killing unit .. his own worst enemy, but there is some upside here.

Factoid: The Kamloops Blazers acquired the last pick in the third round (66th overall) from the Tri-City Americans and selected Tyler Hansen.
