2011 Draft Watch: Colin Jacobs

Colin Jacobs (2011), C, Seattle
Solidly built 6-foot-2, 205-pound pivot moves smoothly and with power .. boasts good jump out of the blocks, although is far from a speed demon .. will cut down time and space on the forecheck .. uses his size nicely to finish his checks .. has played the point on the powerplay and looked quite comfortable doing so .. still learning to use his body to protect the puck, but it is only a matter of time before he becomes an elite power forward at the Junior level .. very hard to stop when he drives to the net to pounce on a loose puck .. lacks the elusiveness or top speed to back off a defenceman .. works hard without the puck and will come back quickly to help out in the T-Bird's zone .. centered a line of Mitch Elliott and Tyler Alos, all of which are available for the 2011 NHL Entry Draft .. sports a lot of upside and given his skill set he should be snapped up in the first round.
