Beantown Bullies
Advertisement
Anthony Pisano (2007), D (Saint John Sea Dogs- QMJHL) (3-0-1-1)
Anthony could be the next Hal Gill. He is 6-foot-6 and 210 pounds, but is raw .. definitely a project with a lot of potential .. moves well for a big man, but needs to work on his defensive game .. could use his long reach more effectively and needs to learn not to lunge when trying to hit .. plays a simple game and will need time to adapt to the quicker players in the QMJHL next year .. strong in front of his net .. may attract some attention for next year's draft, as he is a 1989-born.
Lucas Sousa (2009), D (Lawrence Academy) (3-0-0-0)
A 1991 DOB, who did very well handling himself against players up to four years older than him .. has a lot of potential and played at Lawrence Academy as a freshman this past season .. skates well with the puck .. in the offensive zone, needs to make better decisions with the puck, but most of his mistakes look like a lack of experience .. looked to be strong along the boards, despite only being listed as 5-foot-11 and 175 pounds .. has a strong, low shot from the point.
Scott Estey (2007), F (Undecided) (3-3-5-8)
Played this past season with the Brewster Bulldogs in the Empire League .. he collected 86 points (45 goals, 41 assists) in 35 games .. a dangerous player in the offensive zone who finds the open spots and the puck seems to gravitate to him .. had two goals against Hackettstown Americans .. one was a tip-in and the other was a rebound .. other parts of his game need work, but definitely a player that some colleges should be noticing.
Tony Resendes (2007), F (Northern Cyclones - AJHL) (3-4-1-5)
Was named the MVP of the Atlantic Junior Hockey League (AJHL) .. collected 77 points (35 goals, 42 assists) in 44 games .. plays a chippy and physical style of hockey ... despite being listed as 5-foot-7 and 165 pounds, he plays the Sean Avery agitator role to perfection .. not only can he get under opponents skin, but he can play some offense as well .. has tremendous speed and can really take-off with the puck .. can be relied upon defensively, as he was used routinely to kill penalties .. recently drafted by Waterloo (USHL) and might be able to make the jump to the better league.
Kenny Simon (2008), F (Cushing Academy) (3-0-0-0)
A true grinder and someone who gives it their all every shift .. has the ability to battle through checks, despite a 5-foot-9, 165-pound frame .. the question is whether he has the offensive ability .. next year at Cushing will be the true test, as Ryan Bourque, Broc Little, and David Warsofsky are all leaving, which means Simon will be relied upon heavily to carry some of the offensive load .. very reliable defensively and backchecks with a purpose .. has good speed, but does not seem to handle the puck much.
GBL Black
Casey Brugman (2008), F (Cushing Academy) (3-0-1-1)
Combination of hands and speed .. needs to work on his shot and hitting the net .. has too big of a wind-up .. similar to Cushing teammate Kenny Simon, he will be relied upon heavily to carry some of the offensive load .. needs to get stronger and build-up his 5-foot-8, 170-pound frame.
Sean Whitney (2007), D (Cushing Academy) (3-3-1-4)
A good-sized defender (6-4, 215) .. he displayed a decent stride at top speed but it seems like his arms are moving more than his legs .. his stride does not have much strength behind it and seems to lack foot speed .. does make a strong first pass out of the zone and seemed more offensive than displayed during the season with Cushing .. does have the ability to move up the ice with the puck .. was kicked out in the game against the Wildcats for instigating a fight.
Broc Little (2007), F (Cushing Academy) (3-2-0-2)
Committed to Yale for 2007 .. his offensive skills are some of the best around and an offensive threat on every shift .. will need to work on his defensive game and backchecking with a greater effort .. he hangs too much and is a defensive liability .. creative with the puck and has deceptive speed and despite lacking strength, Little always seems to get an extra step on defenders .. could be one of the best 1-on-1 players in prep .. after four years at Yale, he could be another player that many ask, "why did he not get drafted?"
John Heffernan (2007), F, (BC High) (3-0-0-0)
Committed to Merrimack for 2008 .. has good size (6-2, 200) .. unlike the Super 8 tournament with Massachusetts High School players, John plays much better with top talent like Broc Little and his ability shines more .. tough to take the puck away from, as he uses his big body to protect the puck .. has good offensive instincts with quick hands .. needs to get stronger .. will need to find a better team and league to continue his development.
TJ Massie (2008), G (Cushing Academy) (3-0-1-0) (5.33 GAA)
Committed to UMass Lowell for 2008 .. technically sound and poised .. quick reflexes with an above average glove .. strong post-to-post movement and decent down low .. his is aggressive and challenges shooters .. did not have a great game against the Wildcats and overall an average tournament .. despite the rumors, he will be staying at Cushing next year, instead of heading to the USHL.
Can Am Stars
Nick Palmieri (2007), F (Erie Otters, OHL) (3-2-1-3)
Played in 56 games for Erie this past season and had 45 points (24 goals, 21 assists) .. captain of the Can Am team and like Eric Tangradi, was dominant every shift .. his numbers may not standout, but his size, strength, and ability were top-notch .. last tournament, Palmieri seemed to lack that first-move quickness, but he has seemed to improve on that, but still not the quickest player .. has a long, strong stride and develops good speed after a few strides .. has a tremendous shot with a lot of power behind it and a quick release, but needs to be more accurate, as he could have easily scored four goals in the game against John Cunniff .. strong in front and tough to move his big 6-foot-3 frame .. makes crisp passes .. his hockey sense, vision and reading of plays enable him to foresee scoring opportunities .. should hear his name around the late second or early third round.
Kyle Wetering (2007), F (Undecided) (3-5-2-7)
Played for the Toronto Jr. Canadiens and in 46 games, collected 21 goals, 21 assists and 24 PIM's .. scored two goals against John Cunniff and has a strong nose for the net .. uses his body well to protect the puck along the boards .. has a strong shot .. on a team with many talented players, he can easily go unnoticed until you look at the scoresheet and see that he had two or three points.
Brendan Smith (2007), D (St. Michael's Buzzers – OPJHL) (3-1-2-3)
Committed to Wisconsin for next year .. played in 39 games for the Buzzers and had 36 points (12 goals, 24 assists) .. the stats help describe the play of Smith, as he is all about the offensive game .. he joins the rush, pinches in at the blue-line every chance he gets, has a strong shot from the point, and never passes up a chance to get involved .. the problem is from the neutral zone and into his defensive zone .. is caught looking up ice and allows opposing forwards to get behind him in the neutral zone .. in the defensive zone, he left his team hanging when he rushed out of the zone while his team had brief control of the puck, before being turned over .. after a bad pinch-in from the point, he needs to get back faster .. one scout suggested that he play forward instead because in the defensive zone, 'he is worthless' .. he definitely needs some work, but he is definitely a premium offensive defenseman .. in terms of offense, he needs to work on his release from the point and try to get it towards the net quicker .. not overly aggressive in the corners .. overall, a long-term prospect with tons of potential to be very effective at the next level.
Matt Ferreira (2007), F (Brampton – OPJHL) (3-0-3-3)
Committed to UMass Lowell for next year .. played in 48 games for the Brampton Capitals and led the team in scoring with 72 points (38 goals, 34 assists) .. a smart player who makes good decisions with the puck .. quick with the puck and has good speed with a short, quick stride .. reads the play well and has good hands in tight .. strong on the forecheck.
Jeff Terminesi (2007), D (Brampton – OPJHL) (3-2-1-3)
Committed to Mercyhurst for next year .. played in 45 games for the Brampton Capitals and had 55 points (18 goals, 37 assists) .. another offensive defenseman along the same lines as Brendan Smith .. needs to shoot quicker from the point and has a tendency to hold onto the puck too long.
Jessie Chadwick (2007), F (Undecided) (3-2-1-3)
Big forward (6-2, 190) and uses his body well to create space for his linemates .. goes to the net hard and displayed good hands .. has a strong shot .. against John Cunniff, he had so many scoring chances but could not seem to bury any of them.
Andrew Perugini (2007), G (Barrie Colts - OHL) (2-1-0-0) (2.67 GAA)
Although he did not face many shots, Andrew played a strong game against the John Cunniff team .. challenges the shooters and made two saves by moving post-to-post .. seems to play with a lot of confidence .. played in 57 games for the Colts this past season and had 40-16-0 record with four shut-outs .. not ranked in this years draft, but may be worth considering as a late-round-pick in the 2007 or 2008 NHL Entry Draft
Derek Foam (2007), D (Brampton - OPJHL) (3-0-1-1)
A good-sized defender (6-3, 190) .. played for Brampton Capitals of the OPJHL .. in 47 games, he had 19 goals and 39 assists along with 44 PIM's .. committed to Niagara College next year .. moves well with the puck and is a decent skater with average speed .. has a quick release from the point .. against John Cunniff, he had a nice assist when he held the puck long enough to get the goalie out of position and slid a saucer pass over to Adam Shirley who had the easy tap-in goal .. prone to making bad defensive mistakes with the puck.
Canada Prospects Blizzard
Ben Farrer (2007), F (Calgary Canucks– AJHL) (3-3-5-8)
Has decent wheels with some offensive skills .. displayed good hand/eye coordination by tipping multiple pucks while in front .. gets in on the forecheck well .. scored against the Tri-State Stars with a one-timer from the slot .. in 59 games for the Calgary Canucks, he had 60 points (25 goals and 35 assists) .. committed to Providence for next year.
Eric Filiou (2008), F (Notre Dame Hounds – Midget) (3-3-3-6)
Played last season for the Notre Dame Hounds Midget team .. looks more like a playmaker than a goal scorer .. played tough in every zone .. needs to learn to shoot faster but displays an average shot .. against the Tri-State Stars, he got the defender to commit to him and quickly slid it over to his linemate for a goal .. scored a goal to give his team the lead when he crashed the net and got the rebound .. if he makes the jump to the junior team, he will attract a lot of attention from Div. I schools.
Mathieu Laflamme (2007), F (Notre Dame – Midget) (3-0-5-5)
Another playmaker as seen with by his stats (5 assists in 3 games) .. does pass-off a few solid chances to shoot and sometimes forces the pass .. has very good speed with the puck.
Alex Tillaart (2007), D (Markham – OPJHL) (3-0-2-2)
Played last season for the Markham Waxers (OPJHL) and played in 43 games and had only four points .. has a strong shot from the point and was strong on the boards .. most effective in the defensive zone with solid positioning and tough in the corners .. needs to work on shooting quicker, as he takes a big wind-up and needs to hit the net with greater frequency.
Geoff Hum (2007), F (Dartmouth Subway – Quebec Midget) (3-1-0-1)
Played with highly touted prospect Steven Anthony for Dartmouth .. drafted by the St. John's Sea Dogs, but looks to be a possible college prospect .. played in 66 games and had 113 points (50 goals, 63 assists) .. has a very good shot with solid hands in tight .. drives hard to the net and displayed good hand/eye ability .. scored against Tri-State Stars when he drove to the net and beat the defender and going upstairs with the puck .. a very good player who may get more looks for next year's draft.
Players to Watch: Jason Yee (2008), D (Undecided) (3-2-1-3), Adam Laite (2007), F (Charlottetown - MJHL) (3-2-1-3), Luke Challiers (2008), F (Undecided) (3-1-1-2), Guillaume Goulet (2009), F (Quebec Midget AAA) (3-0-2-2).
East Side Selects
Tom Lescovich (2007), G (Hudson Valley – Atlantic Jr. League) (2-0-1-0) (0.67 GAA)
Overmatched against the Pro-Skills team made up of top players from Canada, Tom played extremely well allowing only one goal to keep his team in the game despite being outplayed .. the goal scored was on a screen that may have been deflected .. most teams split their goalies with each playing a 25 minute half, but Tom was playing so well against Pro-Skills that the coach could not take him out .. plays big in his net and covers all rebounds .. strong down low with his quickness .. quick reflexes and strong post-to-post .. had a great tournament and hopefully will find himself on a stronger team to get more recognition.
Players to Watch: Blake Kerling (2008), D (Thorold Jr B) (Drafted by Brampton OHL) (3-0-0-0).
Brandywine Global Selects Atlantic
Eric Tangradi (2007), F (Belleville Bulls - OHL) (3-2-2-4)
One of the top players in the showcase who dominated and at times, looked like a man amongst boys .. although the numbers do not stick out, Eric was dominant and created numerous scoring chances .. his shot is top-notch with a quick release .. has tremendous vision and is very poised with the puck .. against a bad team, he tried to handle the puck a little too much but overall, he overpowered every opponent on the ice .. very disappointed not to see his team go up against better competition .. has the ability to battle through one or two checks or slip away from them in the corners .. needs to stretch out his stride more, but does possess good speed after a few strides to get going .. had a very good season with Belleville, as he adjusted to the OHL speed, but it was his playoff performance (17 points in 15 games) that have many teams looking to grab him possibly in the late second or third round.
James Chamness (2007), F (Avon Old Farms) (3-1-1-2)
The model player for any third line .. always seems to be the first player on the forecheck and keeps his feet moving at all times .. uses teammates well, but has tendency to look to pass too much .. drives to the net hard and has ability to fight through checks .. can be feisty, especially in the corners.
Jeff Vellecca (2007), F (NE Jr. Falcons – EJHL) (3-3-0-3)
An offensive talent with good hands, especially around the net .. needs to work on his skating, as he has short, choppy strides .. has an average shot from the outside, as he is more of a threat around the net .. committed to Union for 2008 .. had 58 points (25 goals, 33 assists) in 45 games this past season.
Hockey Opportunity
Joey Periera (2007), F (South Kent) (3-3-4-7)
Quick hands and feet .. has smooth strides and excellent acceleration .. has good vision and moves the puck very well .. sent Rem Vanderbeck on a breakaway with a quick pass up the middle .. needs to work harder on the backcheck and be more responsible defensively .. committed to Boston University for next season.
Nick Lampson (2007), F (South Kent) (3-2-3-5)
Similar to South Kent teammate Joe Periera with his quick strides and very good hands .. plays a chippy style and does not back down despite his small frame .. very good 1-on-1 and has a strong shot with a quick release .. needs to work on his defensive play, as he was often very slow coming back into the defensive zone .. committed to Colorado College for next season.
Players to Watch: Mike Periera (2010), F (Undecided) (3-1-1-2)
North Shore Wings
Keith Bombaugh (2007), D (St. John's Fog Devils – QMJHL) (3-0-0-0)
A physical defenseman with a big frame (6-2, 205) .. looked to be very tired toward the end of the first half with only three defenseman on his team .. made very good, quick outlet passes .. needs to work on his speed, as the smaller forwards were having a great time going against him 1-on-1.
North Star Beehives
Garrett Noiles (2007), F (Spruce Grove – AJHL) (3-4-4-8)
Played in 29 games for Spruce Grove and registered only 8 points (3 goals, 5 assists) .. in 2005-06, he played for Burlington of the OPJHL and had 36 points in 41 games .. has very good size (6-3, 195) .. plays strong along the boards and displayed a strong shot .. has decent hands and good vision in the offensive zone .. his skating is decent with average speed.
Randy Johnston (2007), F (Stouffville Spirit – OPJHL) (3-3-5-8)
Played in 45 games for Stouffville and had 69 points (35 goals, 34 assists) .. very strong offensively with good hands in tight .. possesses a decent shot and good vision .. a good skater with average speed .. he may be planning on going to college, but depending on the rules, Johnston may have to sit out a year because he played 13 games in the OHL with the Ottawa 67's and Barrie Colts.
Players to Watch: James McIntosh (2007), F (Stouffville Spirit – OPJHL) (3-2-5-7), Ryan Jarrell (2007), F (Port Hope – OPJHL) (3-2-4-6), Josh Moore (2008), F (Undecided) (3-1-1-2).
Pro-Skills Hockey
Dustin Laren (2008), F (Stouffville Spirit – OPJHL) (6-3-3-6)
Gifted offensively with quick-stick skills and fast speed with the puck .. has great acceleration with quick strides .. displayed good vision on the powerplay and moves the puck well .. works well with youngster Ethan Werek.
Ben Conti (2007), F (North York Rangers – OPJHL) (6-3-1-4)
Committed to RPI for 2007 .. a fluid skater with quick strides .. he gets in on the forecheck quickly and goes hard to the net .. has a strong shot but needs to shoot more .. played in 47 games for North York and had 39 points (20 goals, 19 assists) .. if he has a good season at RPI next year, look for him to get some looks in the 2008 draft.
Cameron Gaunce (2008), D (Markham Waxers – OPJHL) (6-0-1-1)
A 1990 DOB .. a strong and wide defenseman .. not the fastest defenseman, but very consistent and makes the simple plays .. a similar defenseman to Keith Bombaugh.. strong, low shot from the point and makes crisp passes in the offensive zone .. needs to work on his neutral and defensive zone decisions with the puck and work on his foot speed.
Ethan Werek (2009), F (Stouffville Spirit – OPJHL) (6-2-2-4)
A 1991 DOB and the youngest player in the tournament .. played last season for the Toronto Marlboros and recently was drafted by Kingston in the first round, but committed to BU for 2009 .. despite his age, Ethan is strong on the puck and tough on his skates .. already possesses good size (6-1, 175) .. displayed good hands in tight .. did a strong job on the PK and covers a lot of ice with a few strides .. has a strong stride but only average speed and his stride can be ugly, as his legs are long .. drives hard to the net and not afraid of the physical game .. needs to work on his positioning, as he has a tendency to be all over the place at times .. tons of pro potential.
Robert Mignardi (2008), F (Kingston – OHL) (6-4-4-8)
A 1990 DOB with good size .. listed on the roster to play for Kingston (OHL) next year .. has a strong shot, but needs to learn how to release it faster .. needs to get stronger on his skates .. has nice vision and is reliable defensively.

Syracuse Stars (White)
Richard Manley (2008), F (Undecided) (3-0-1-0)
Great size (6-4, 200) .. has a long stride that he uses effectively for good speed .. uses his big frame well by going right to the front of the net and screening the goalie every chance he gets .. battles in front and is tough to move .. has very good potential.
Players to Watch: Dominic Morrone (2007), F (Philly Jr. Flyers) (3-2-2-4), Trevor Kenney (2007), F (Bridgewater Bandits – EJHL) (3-2-1-3).
Team Canada West
Steven Bagnall (2007), F (Surrey – BCHL) (6-1-0-1)
Has tremendous offensive talent but based on his performance at the tournament and during his season with Surrey, Steven does not seem to be a very good goal-scorer .. he played in 46 games for Surrey and had 11 points (7 goals, 4 assists) .. has quick hands and a strong release .. uses his body well to protect the puck .. needs to work on keeping his feet moving while backchecking instead of hooking.
Taylor Stefishen (2008), F (Langley – BCHL) (6-1-6-7)
Tournament MVP .. a 1990 DOB .. smooth with the puck and can handle it at top speed .. has tremendous vision and moves the puck quickly .. has poise with the puck on the PP and makes smart plays .. hustles in every zone and backchecks hard .. seems to be thinking a few plays ahead of everyone .. a very special player .. has a smooth stride with very good, deceptive speed .. needs to work on his defensive positioning.
Jason Bernatchez (2007), F (OCN Blizzard – MJHL) (6-4-4-8)
A threat every shift in the offensive zone .. despite his size (5-9, 180), he has the ability to take a hit and keep going .. drives hard to the net and battles for rebounds and loose pucks .. displayed a strong shot and has good vision.
Players to Watch: Pierre-Oliver Lemieux (2007), G (OCN Blizzard – MJHL) (3-2-0) (2.38 GAA), Alex Angers-Goulet (2007), F (Notre Dame – SJHL) (6-3-5-8), Chad Nehring (2007), F (Yorkton – SJHL) (6-4-4-8), Keldon Sanderson (2007), F (OCN Blizzard – MJHL) (6-1-2-3), Francois Gauthier (2007), F (Saint John – QMJHL) (6-3-3-6).
Team Michigan
Ricky McEnhill (2008), F (Undecided) (3-0-0-0)
Has improved on his skating since last viewing (Chowder Cup) .. looks to be more of a playmaker .. played defense during the second half against the North Shore Wings .. moves the puck around well .. needs to learn how to get his shot off quicker .. has very good hands and skates well with the puck .. a 1990 DOB and the next year is important for his development.
Louis Lemak (2008), F (Undecided) (3-1-0-1)
A 1990 DOB and similar to McEnhill, his development next year is crucial .. a good skater with long, strong strides and has good speed .. handles the puck well in traffic .. played defense in the first half against the North Shore Wings and did a very good job .. he made a few good rushes up the ice and his offensive ability showed .. when playing forward, he backchecked hard .. has a good shot, but needs work on shooting quicker .. moves the puck well on the PP .. needs to get stronger
Bennett Schneider (2007), D (Undecided) (3-0-2-2)
A very good skater with a smooth stride and decent speed .. does not hold onto to the puck, makes the smart plays and makes tape-to-tape passes up the ice .. has good size (6-3, 195) and never seems to get beat 1-on-1 or out of the corners .. plays a simple game that can be considered mistake-free.
Ed Hudick (2007), F (Undecided) (3-2-1-3)
Similar game as twin brother Earl, as he is tough as nails .. listed as 6-feet and 200 pounds but could be smaller .. strong on the puck and a never-give-up attitude with extra effort every shift .. scored two goals against the North Shore Wings (one was a tip-in and the other was a rebound right on top of the crease) .. offensively he has decent hands and shot, but it is his work in the corners and in front that give him the scoring chances.
Earl Hudick (2007), F (Undecided) (3 – 0 – 2 – 2)
See his brother's profile and you get an idea about what he is all about .. the fact that every shift there are two Hudick is coming after you is a tough situation to find yourself in .. physical and an energy player .. one scout noted that any college team should be looking at these guys just to create energy and be a physical presence .. needs to work on his faceoffs.
Marco Ruggeri (2007), F (Undecided) (3-2-3-5)
The offensive talent on the team with the hands, vision, and quick release .. shines on the PP with his vision and poise with the puck .. has breakaway speed but needs to be in a shooting position when coming down .. needs to shoot the puck more, as a few times he held onto the puck too long and will need to attack the net more.
Players to Watch: Alex Pikunas (2008), G (Undecided) (3-0-0) (3.33 GAA), Hunter Stenback (2008), F (Undecided) (3-1-1-2).
Team New England
TJ Syner (2007), F (NE Jr. Falcons – EJHL) (4-2-1-3)
Small forward (5-8, 175) with good offensive upside .. has a good shot with a quick release .. decent hands and can really move up the ice with the puck .. an offensive threat in the offensive zone, but seems to play too much on the perimeter .. could get some looks in the later rounds of the draft .. committed to UMass Amherst for 207.
Paul Thompson (2007), F (NH Jr. Monarchs – EJHL) (4-6-2-8)
Has a good frame (6-0, 215) and is a smooth skater .. has very good hands and can work the puck in tight .. strong along the boards .. does have a heavy shot but looks to pass before shooting .. needs to get his shot-off quicker .. decent in the faceoff circle .. could go to the net more .. very talented and has good potential .. scored a nice goal when the goalie slid post-to-post and picked the top corner .. heading to UNH for 2007.
Cam Lanoue (2007), F (St. Paul's School) (4-1-2-3)
Recently named to Central Scouting's Final Ranking .. he has a weak build (6-0,185) but is offensively talented .. Would not put him in the same category as the other prep draft-eligible players, but does have talent .. needs to keep his feet moving, as he tends to glide into the offensive zone.
Dennis Kearney (2007), F (NH Jr. Monarchs - EJHL) (4-2-7-9)
Has a strong build (6-1, 192) and tough to knock-off the puck .. has good vision, but tendency to turnover the puck when pressured .. has an average shot .. tries to get too fancy at times .. committed to Yale for 2007.
Austin Mayer (2007), F (Walpole – EJHL) (4-6-11-17)
Had a tremendous tournament, but the game against NY Saints was a tale-of-two-players .. he started the game with a half-shield and played conservative .. got lazy a few shifts and no effort until his team had control of the puck .. the second half, he came out with a full cage, and played a different game .. he was skating hard and was banging bodies along the boards .. showed good poise and speed .. scored two goals and collected six assists in an 11-0 romp against the Saints .. possesses a strong shot with deadly accuracy .. overall, an offensive threat, but his defensive game needs real work .. scored one goal on a nice shot coming around the top of the faceoff circle .. committed to Providence for 2007.
Ryan Bourque (2009), F (Cushing Academy) (4-2-0-2)
A 1991 DOB .. smart puck-mover with a beautiful skating stride .. displays tremendous hockey sense and is a versatile forward who can be utilized in different situations .. has good vision and wheels with a quick release on his shot .. reliable defensively and has a great first few steps .. finished a nice 2-on-1 pass from Syner that went cross-crease .. potential colleges are Boston University or Harvard (many more are probably to come) .. will play for the US National Program next year.
David Warsofsky (2008), D (Cushing Academy) (4-0-4-4)
